Meet Jada Moss | Singer & Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jada Moss and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jada, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
I’m a girl who loves the simple things in life. It’s always the simple things that others ignore or take for granted that make me happy. Fresh air makes me happy. The sun beaming on my skin makes me happy. Smiles from strangers as I walk down the street make me happy. Just knowing that there is so much to live for makes me happy!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a singer, songwriter, and producer! My art is love. I believe love should be shared with the world in every possible way. I’m doing my part by creating music that spreads love, but not just that—my music also spreads happiness, shares the reality of faith, promotes positivity, and inspire joy. The songs I write tell a story, and I always pray that each song connects with someone on the other side of the recording.
I’ve always had a deep connection to music. As a little girl, I modeled for the inside cover of Outkast’s Speakerboxxx/The Love Below album (which debuted “Hey Ya!”). I didn’t know then that years later I’d follow a music path myself—funny how life works, huh? But like I said, I’ve always had a connection to music. I come from a long line of pastors, musicians, and singers. Singing has been part of my life since day one, growing up in the church and all.
Getting to where I am today professionally wasn’t easy—not at all! I grew up with a lot of insecurities and constantly compared myself to others. I’d beat myself up daily, thinking, I can’t sing like her; she sounds so much better, or, I don’t look as pretty as that girl on Disney Channel. Only recently have I discovered the beauty of being authentically me—and I’m so glad I did. Nothing beats owning who you are inside and out and making it work for you!
Throughout my music career and life itself, I’ve learned that even when you feel incapable of achieving your goals, you absolutely can! Sometimes, we feel limited because others say we can’t do something. Other times, it’s financial difficulties that hold us back. But if God is for you, who can be against you, right? God placed these verses from Philippians 4:16, 18 on my heart: “You sent me aid more than once when I was in need” and “I am amply supplied” (paraphrased). I constantly recite these verses as affirmations for when I feel like I don’t have the resources to succeed. They remind me that God has already given me everything I need. Now, I just have to trust in His timing—easier said than done sometimes, haha!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite place to visit in Atlanta will always be the Botanical Gardens. I’m a huge nature lover and enjoy plants so much! At home, I have a growing collection of plant babies, from succulents to vegetables, flowers and even trees. That’s why I love visiting the Botanical Gardens—it’s amazing to see how they present nature as the art it truly is! As for my favorite restaurant, it’s probably the Cheesecake Factory next to Cumberland Mall. For shopping, I love visiting boutiques around the city and outlets!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my parents! They are the beginning to my story. They have helped me nurture my talents from a young age and have supported me tremendously along the way. I love you mom and dad!
