We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacob Lynn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jacob, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I think that the biggest contributor to my success so far is my ability to truly be myself. Most people try to adapt and change based on who they are around. So when someone actually stays authentic it can be very impactful. I am a Southern actor with a strong Southern accent. I can tone it down, but it’s part of my brand. When I first started, so many people told me to get rid of my accent and recommended accent coaches. Now, my brand is that tough-looking Southerner… With my accent.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve worked for the past 5 years almost every day to get to where I am. I got my SAG card this year. I also expanded my team to include representation in the West Coast market. My biggest thing so far is being in “George and Tammy” on Showtime. I worked with Micheal Shannon one on one for a full day, which was pretty cool. I think my biggest thing has been I always take it seriously, and I always come in knowing my material and full of ideas. The actual job is something I really enjoy. This is really cool because when I’m working I’m having a good time. Sometimes the way acting is viewed is very challenging for me people tend to think it’s a jokey thing. It requires focus and a group of really talented people all doing their job at once, together in harmony. This hasn’t been easy it’s been challenging but that’s literally what makes life worth living. Living life afraid is such a waste, I get excited when something is difficult because I know I’m gonna have a great time figuring out how to conquer it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I always take my friends to FOX BROS BBQ. It is amazing and hard to find if you don’t know the area it is soooooo good. If you love ribs and briskets please go find it grab a picnic table and get ready to taste some greatness. After that, I would take them to a Braves where the cheapest seats are only 12 bucks and you get to watch some great baseball. Definitely check out the Coke factory for someone who hasn’t been to Atlanta. It’s a really cool experience to see the humble beginnings of that operation. And then really just go out to 5 points and hit up some of the local rock and roll bars and meet some interesting people.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My entire family has been insanely supportive of me. My wife, Olivia, especially has been along with me on the whole thing every step of the way. She’s my reader, she gives me pep talks when I’m down. She stopped me from giving up early on at least 5 times. And I know more than anything she loves me for a lot more than what I do. My parents are also incredibly supportive. They gave me the gift of believing in me my entire life through sports and now acting. The gift of someone believing in you is the greatest one you can get. I also wanna shout out to Nana, Pop, my in-laws, AJ, JD, Coughman, Timm, and Chlometto Bug. Y’all have all been instrumental in your own ways in helping me.
