We had the good fortune of connecting with Jackie B. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jackie, how do you think about risk?
I’m a risky ( Within reason lol ) type of woman. In my younger days, I was really afraid of the word “alone”because I was always looking at life from a negative aspect. Now I feel like, if I don’t risk taking the chance I risk never knowing what I could’ve accomplished. I took a risk moving to Atlanta, GA with only $50 in my pocket lol. Thanks mom🧡🤣

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
JUSBNME Entertainment was established in 2013. Before that time I was a solo artist of another company. While I was a part of that company I was only focused on singing and songwriting. Nothing more nothing less. In 2012, although I wanted to still maintain the business relationship, it just did not pan out that way. I was forced to understand the business aspect of music by myself. You can say I was thrown to the wolves LOL. So, I took up a few college courses in music, I began performing more, and in 2013 when I established my company, I began putting on my own shows as well as shows in collaboration with other artist. Now granted prior to, I was already doing shows of my own however, I didn’t have a full hand in the creation of the events. Again, all I did was sing and write songs. You couldn’t have told me that I would be in a position to host my own or curate my own anything. I did not have the mental capacity of that understanding.

Moving to Georgia in 2015 really catapulted my gifts, my skills, and my desire to be more within this industry. I must say the plan that I had coming to Georgia five years ago has since then enhanced to something beyond me. It scares me I’ll be honest. However, I know without a shadow of a doubt that God has blessed me to be and do a multitude of great things. Let’s be ALL THE WAY REAL! Struggles existed as they do now. None of this walk has been all peaches and cream. But, the one thing I am so proud about is the fact that I picked up, move here, no family, by myself, and still I am building a Brand that invites you to be yourself. Because honestly, The music industry has created so many imaginative beings. Forcing our peers to seek being accepted for something they’re not or forcing change that isn’t needed. The crazy part, people think peer pressure only happens amongst teenagers or youth. No, It happens amongst 25 and older crowds as well. See, as adults we are looked at as those having it all figured out knowing all the answers, or we’re grown. Why did we as kids scream we cannot wait to grow up? What were we thinking? LOL. So within my company I decided to launch my Brand SpeakLyfe.

The SpeakLyfe Brand, which LYFE is acronym for “LET YOUR FAITH EVOLVE” allows you to own your Dopeness. When I say own your Dopeness I mean own every aspect of who you are. The good, the bad, the ugly. All of it. Since then, I am blessed to have released a single entitled “SpeakLyfe” which speaks to the current events that have taken place with my people and The Pandemic. It’s available on all digital platforms.

Go check that out for me (Muah). I started my own podcast “SpeakLyfe Talks” available on all streaming platforms, I have goals to host a TV show “SpeakLyfe Talks TV “and I have many more plans in the works that I will not speak on right now because I don’t wanna give too much away. However, in all of this, I am learning which is what I want to tell the world, it is OK to be exactly who you are. We’re all learning to accept ourselves. No longer are we rushing the process. We did enough of that as children. Please take your time. Don’t just know your worth. Own your worth. Then add taxes lol.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oooooooooooo so many butttt, if I had to set the tone, then here we go lol:

First things first. I’m making breakfast! Yasss I cook cook lol.

If you want to know what I’d cook, you’d have to be a good friend of mine to find out lol. Anywho, if we’re going out definitely gotta go to “I love Pho” in Tucker, GA. Any restaurant located in The Battery Atlanta shopping center is a must. This place is sooo dope because you could spend your whole week there doing something different everyday. Oh and catch a baseball game as well, if you’re into that. Canton Street in Roswell, GA is freaking amazing. Any restaurant on the strip is a go to and there’s lots of live music taking place over there as well. Mamajuanas Lounge & Restaurant in Lilburn, GA has this really really good shrimp cocktail and the oxtails are everything. Now they’re a Dominican restaurant but Lawd I will go there everyday if I lived close lolol.

Cafè Intermezzo located in Midtown is one of my favorites. It is the upscale version of the Cheesecake Factory. Now if you want to hangout Go to Piedmont Park. Guaranteed to see many amazing things and people. Also we will take a trip to Little Five Points. It’s sooo eclectic and colorful. Reminds me of Brady street on the east side in my hometown Milwaukee, WI. So that’s just a few but the list is ever growing. Lawd Georgia is huge lol.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my Shoutout to Milwaukee, WI. for giving me a platform to begin building myself as an artist and business woman. I personally want to give an added shoutout to my sista in Christ and the music game Elaine E’ssential. When I think back to when my music took a pivotal change is when she and I met. Our like mindedness clicked and now she’s my sister for life. We call each other every so often to “receiveth the checketh” (lol) when we need to be reminded of who we are, who’s we are and, why it’s important for both of us to keep going. We’re both from WI so to see how our careers have elevated from 10 years ago is so astonishing. I’m proud of my Boo. She deserves all the flowers, gifts and blessings coming her way. This doesn’t discredit many of the amazing women and men I’ve encountered and built great relationships with throughout my life. She and I just really got it out the mud together. We shared a space in time that thoroughly allowed us to be our truest selves. Yeah she ain’t goin no where fam🤣🤣. Shout out to that Soul Empowerment Sista of mine ❤
