We had the good fortune of connecting with J Fitz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi J, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Obedience. Impact. Authenticity.

I started my brand GODFLOW off of a conviction and natural inclination from The Holy Spirit.

I told myself, that if I combined my faith and style, I could create something memorable. There is a huge desire for my generation to connect with God, but they don’t want to seem corny or lame. Let me focus on promoting faith, authenticity and that can set me apart in the marketplace.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Art, design, and creativity flow to me naturally. Especially, vision, taste, fashion, and style. These are entities that are a part of me… I always say that I believe when God created my DNA genetic code he bonded faith and fashion together.

What sets me apart is always my conviction, my faith, and how I listen to the Holy Spirit to finalize my projects. I also have been blessed with extreme exposure and great relationships that have helped strengthen my creativity, my taste level, my vision, my creativity, and my appetite for cool things.

I’m most proud of my ability to keep the faith, be curious, strive for excellence, and nurture my creativity along this journey.

Working, designing, and joining Nike’s Serena Williams Design Crew – Cohort 4, was a pretty big accomplishment. I’m super grateful for that exposure and experience.

I don’t mean to sound redundant, on how vitally important God is to me and my relationship with my faith, but God is the number 1 reason I am where I’m at professionally. I must stay open, curious, prepared, and focused on the prize as well. I need to continue to enjoy the journey and not just fixate on the destination – which could disrupt the divine flow and eradicate serendipity happening along the way.

None of it is easy! Lol. Leaning on God, reading, understanding His Word, and surrounding myself with a good, supportive, creative, and faithful community all help.

I’m learning that as people, we can’t possibly control everything. We do, however, have autonomy over what we choose, and who we become – amid shortcomings, pivots, and detours. Choosing and curating your life experience is a principle of mine.

I want the world to know that I was here as a vessel of God, that my identity was rooted in being a Fly, Man of God, inspiring, creating, helping to transform lives, and “Making faith fly again.”

I want people to know that GODFLOW is about allowing God to flow through your life, your development, your experiences, and your shortcomings. GODFLOW is about discovering your truest identity, embracing your authenticity, and being reborn into a new form (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I’m being completely honest, I have friends who are the best with this kind of stuff, super adventurous and well-traveled, I’m someone who likes to show up to what’s already planned, lol.

But if I had to answer, I’d take a good friend to the beltline, get some great food with more cool friends, and we all have deep conversations together.

I really enjoy going to The Works, in Atl, it’s very diverse in shops, foods, and people. Ponce City Market is always a vibe, especially the rooftop.

Colony Square is one of my favs. Getting Hibachi or Tai food there is usually my go-to.

The right environment, food, people, and music always provide a fulfilling night.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I’d want to shout out God. My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He has been the center point and the cornerstone that has brought me this far.

Secondly, some great friends of mine:
