We had the good fortune of connecting with Issiah Terry and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Issiah, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I first started doing photography it was just for fun. Then as I grew and learned more about photography, I started to see a beauty in it. Then I learned that other people are doing photography as their job and then when I took a deeper dive into how I could do that myself. I started to research everything this is to become a photographer. I have learned so much and this more stuff that I still need to learn.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I get excited about creating something new or giving a different spin on things. I got here not by myself though. I have had a lot of help along the way. I have met some cool photography that is better than me and I have learned so much from them. A challenge I faced when I first started photography was finding my own style. I’ve been doing photography for about a year now and I am just started to find out what my style is. One lesson I have learned is always to make sure your batteries are charged. One time I went out for a shoot when I arrived and tried to turn on my camera, my batteries were dead. Lucky I lived close enough to my apartment to go back and get my other battery. So now I double-check before I leave for a shoot. One thing I want whoever is reading this to know about Zay’s Aesthetics is that I am just a guy with a camera showing how the world looks through my eyes.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to Skyline Park especially if it is their first time being in Atlanta. Skyline Park is a great spot for people to enjoy themselves. For those who have never been, Skyline Park is a rooftop amusement park. It has views of the whole city. After Skyline Park we eat at one of the many restaurants at Pounce City Market. I would also take them to the hub where that are plenty of good restaurants to eat at.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First I want to give a shoutout to my good friend Aushailene Ragin for getting this opportunity for me. Also, I want to give a shoutout to my family, friends, and anyone that has ever done a photo/video shoot with me. I appreciate all of you.
