Meet Ingrid Jordan: Award-Winning Actress

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ingrid Jordan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ingrid, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I want my legacy to continue the rise of women in film and behind the scenes. Standing in our greatness and purpose humbly, but gracefully as possible. Demanding to be heard and acknowledged for our sacrifices. Dreams live in us too and I want to play my part on helping women succeed at those dreams. Words are great, but remember me for my actions.

Please tell us more about your art. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
The road has been a rocky one. First off being raped and beaten for 5 full years at the age of 12 to 16. This took a toll on me even in my adult life. I loss faith at times in God. I had alot of “why me” questions. I started to think I wasn’t good enough, hard to give trust to anyone, and of course depression eventually hits. Today I am proud to say I have restored full faith in God I’ve grown so much in these past years to the point I structured my first feature film, based on true events of my life, called Un-Bowed. I didn’t play myself in the movie but I did play a character named Riley. Un-Bowed has won 4 different awards and nominated for 3 in film festivals across the world. I am so proud and grateful for everyone that was apart of it. My one message to anyone on the verge of giving up is always had faith over fear. I didn’t just wake up one day and become an award-winning bilingual actress. I have my acting Coach Jonna Johnson to thank for teaching me the Chubbuck Technique, originally created by Ivana Chubbuck, and own personal dedication to be the best verison of me. I was diagnosed with a rare eye disease called Keratoconus. In past acting classes I would have to learn a short script on the spot called “Cold Read” and perform it with the script in your hand. I wish it was that easy for me, my eyes could not follow the speed of reading and performing. Constantly looking up and down, up and down with an eye disease is extremely difficult. So my strength became memorizing the script immediately, in that VERY MOMENT. It was a huge challenge, but faith over fear wins everytime.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If one of my best friends was visiting the area I would show them the best time by taking them to Tacos & Tequilas for food and drinks, We would go to Loca Luna to go dancing. If my friend is interested in seafood we would go to Pappadeaux or Juicy Crab. If interested in vegan I would take them to the fabulous Slutty Vegan restaurant. When it comes to interesting places to go I would go to Little Five Points, they have some of the most interesting unique clothes & accessories you can find. As well as some of the most healthiest restaurants. For example, one of my favorite vegan desserts spot in the area First Batch Artisan Foods. When it comes to fun we will go to the Main Event or Andretti. Then for more sightseeing would go to the Atlanta Belt Line and since I love to workout I would take my best friend to end the trip to walk to the top of Stone Mountain.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I honestly have a never ending list of thank you’s and shoutouts, but the one particular shoutout that got my acting ball back rolling is my partner. He is a big dreamer and motivator. He lives life by fate not by luck. I’ve had my up and down battles with should I keep going or take a break from my acting career, or getting down because my “big break” isn’t happening fast enough. My partner keeps my head in the game pushing me to stay on top of my personal goals and commitments. He encourages me to keep striving for that one moment for life. He always says I myself cannot make you 100% happy, but capturing your dreams will make up the rest.
