We had the good fortune of connecting with Indrea Gordon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Indrea, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to leave a legacy and become a black female designer w a household name. Like a Calvin Klein or so, Martha Stewart.
What should our readers know about your business?
It definitely wasn’t easy. This journey begin in Seaside California in 1995. . I’ve always known I wanted to be a designer so I went to FIDM in San Francisco. What sets my brand apart from others is the way we empower our customers. Our brand has shifted to focus on the female entrepreneur. So it’s all things that build females in business. This also goes along with my coaching program. I teach female entrepreneurs who lack business acumen and sales how to structure and launch their businesses. I use clothing to help them feel like the boas they are striving to be.
I’m most proud of my Fashion Without limitations program which features children and young adults with special needs on my runway.
I got to where I am by not giving up and always having the mindset of a servant. I want the world to know that I cared about Gods people and what was most important to me was making sure my family and others were good.
Till this day I overcome by prayer, self evaluation and always being open to change.Sometimes we are the ones holding ourselves up from the very thing we are praying to receive.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Definitely Twisted Soul Food restaurant, Gus’s fried chicken downtown. The Traphouse museum. The high museum and so much more.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
God first of all. Chris Waymon with video for always capturing moments, L.Lashley for styling my pieces. Perris Hull for capturing moments. Daphania Adams for constructing samples. Ayanna Brewer for always providing jewelry. Alicia Perryman, Lance Gardner, Sunny Conner and Marshell Borum for always being in my corner from the very beginning. There are so many others who have contributed along the way and blessed me to great measures. Including my loving and supportive family.
