We had the good fortune of connecting with India Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi India, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am from Newark New Jersey, migrated to Atlanta in 2008. I am from a two parent middle class home where mom was a registered nurse and Dad was a Chemical Operator. Although life started off magnificent for me, my Mom passed away after a lengthy illness, when I was 14 years old. That was a lifechanging event that changed the trajectory of my life. As a result, I became a teen mother at 15, and struggled to overcome trauma due the loss of my mom. Although life became tough, the instilled morals and values from both of my parents remained within, I was determined to overcome life’s hurdles and worked diligently to obtain and maintain a strong work ethic. That determination catapulted me to complete my required education and beyond. I obtained My MBA in General Business from University of Phoenix in 2015, this accomplishment sparked a quest to become the Strong Business Woman I am today.  I am proud Owner of I & H Enterprises LLC ,DBA I & H Enterprises Mobile Signings.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

I am a Mobile Notary and Owner of I & H Enterprises Mobile Signings located in Marietta, yet services all of Metro Atlanta. My Notary Business is Mobile, and has been in operation since 2016. I love the interaction and assistance I give while servicing clients. I handle simple Notarizations, Mortgage Documents, Field Inspector Services, Immigration Form Assistance and Assist Clients with Creating their New Businesses. I am looking to add additional services in the near future. I Absolutely Love what I do! It is empowering to assist clients with their legal matters, although it is just a small piece of their process. “A simple smile and Thank You,” really makes my day! Although there are many Notaries Companies around, none are as influential, charismatic and inspirational as I & H Enterprises Mobile Signings. When on appointments, I offer humor, insight and key points to remember. Who doesn’t like a humorous and insightful person? I learned a long time ago, learning is an ongoing event that is instilled within throughout life.

Becoming a Notary was easy, obtaining an MBA was the challenging piece of the puzzle. I overcame personal difficulties by pushing through no matter what challenges appeared.

I know now, anything worth having is worth fighting for, this quote rings true in all facets of life, personal, business, love and community. You have to be willing to fight for the whatever Prize You seek! The journey may be difficult, but the reward is Sweet!

I want to encourage Young Brown Girls and those who are Teen Mothers, no matter how big the mountain looks, if you take one step at a time, You Will reach the top in Your Time, not anyone else’s time. Your journey, is simply that, Your Journey. If this teen mother could overcome the many challenges life threw, one being motherless, then you can Overcome Too!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to Shout out My 3 Beautiful Daughters, Asia Harris-Sykes, China Harris-Sykes and Imani Anderson for Inspiring me to keep going no matter how hard life became.
