Hi Imari, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I launched my blog back in 2016 and didn’t have the funds to invest in it. I immediately began to think of ways to monetize my blog without spending tons of money. Through affiliate marketing and influencer campaigns, I managed to earn income to launch my t-shirt brand. During the pandemic, I decided to pivot from blogging and launched Boss Branding on a Budget. The whole purpose of this brand is to help others generate income for their business without spending tons on ads. Our main focus is to show you how to have a successful brand using organic marketing strategies.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Boss Branding on a Bugdet LLC is a marketing agency that provides ready-made solutions to help make social media and email marketing easy. We have awesome clients who’re doing some amazing things in their own individual industries. Our focus is on building a safe place for entrepreneurs to network and grow. One challenge we’ve encountered is the ability to reach more businesses. The change of the algorithm on social media has affected many small businesses. However, we’ve overcome this issue by consistently showing up and providing valuable content for our followers.

I’d want the world to know that everything does not have to be perfect to be successful. Start right now with what you have, and continue to grow. Share your expertise, and don’t be afraid to start from the bottom.

Our company has grown exponentially over the past year due to honesty, consistency, and a willingness to help others succeed. I truly believe that the same can be awarded to you.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my friends were visiting I would have to take them to Ponce City Farmers Market for amazing food, shopping, and entertainment. We’d also stop by Slutty Vegan for a good burger. We can check out Breakout Games and Top Golf for fun! The Martin Luther King Jr Center is a must-see! Lastly, we have to stop by Paschal’s for some good soul food.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would not be where I am without the grace of God for sure. Secondly, I have a very supportive husband who encourages me daily. I also have a solid accountability group that encourages me and pushes me to achieve more. I just finished reading Valorie Burton’s Life Coaching For Successful Women, and it was a game-changer! I highly recommend it for women small business owners.
