We had the good fortune of connecting with Imani Mosley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Imani, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business, started off as a way to make money during the pandemic. I had just graduated college and the whole world was shut down, but I still had to make some type of money to live. It started off as a keychain business and then I realized that, that type of business was not the way to go. I started to write down some business ideas, and before I knew it my business turned into a t-shirt shop. I wanted to make shirts dedicated to us, the black community. Something with a statement.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Professionally, I am a registered Radiologist Technologist. I currently work as a Computed Tomography Tech (Cat Scan) and am working on my certification to become a registered CT tech. This journey was not easy. I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Radiation Sciences in May 2020. I was the only Black student in my graduating class from my program and I was determined to finish strong. Graduating during a pandemic was a lot and it changed how I saw the world. After graduating, I had to study for my radiology certification which was even harder. Although I had all the time in the world to study due to the world being on lockdown, I had a lot on my mind that caused me to not be able to focus. I was trying to figure out what was the next step in my life. After finally passing my certification, I moved to ATL with my now fiancé and finally got my first radiology job, but I couldn’t stop there. I went back to school to get my CT certification, which has now allowed me to jump start my career in the field.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take them to The Battery. It’s always a vibe there and has amazing food and drinks. Next, I would take them to ponce city market. Definitely a great place to feel like a big kid again with a twist of adulthood. They have arcade games, bars, a huge slide, and a mini drop tower. That’s just the rooftop, below that it has many restaurants and shops. I would also recommend Blaqhaus. The food and drinks are amazing and the music is always a vibe. It is also black-owned. Definitely can’t forget juicy crab, because what’s a trip without some amazing seafood.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my success to my parents, my siblings, my fiancé, and my best friends. They are my biggest support system. The moment I said I wanted to start a business they were all in. My very first sale came from my parents. Their support has helped me stay on track and reminded me that I can do this. Although my life has gotten busier since I’ve started my business, they never let me lose focus. My fiancé and I started dating during the pandemic and now we are getting married in September. He constantly keeps me on my Ps and Qs when it comes to staying focused on making my business grow and become more successful. My best friends are constantly helping me spread the word whenever I drop a new item. They even make sure to support my business as customers and show off my brand proudly. Since moving to ATL, my business has grown and I have grown mentally as a business owner. This is only the beginning of such a successful journey for me. Along this journey I have learned many lessons like never giving up no matter how hard it gets. I also learned to slow down and enjoy life. I would have never thought that I would be a small business owner, I honestly didn’t think that I had it in me. I took a leap of faith and stepped out of my comfort zone and it was the best decision I have ever made. I truly couldn’t have done it without my support system.
