Meet Imani Clarke | Owner of Merraki Beauty Skincare

We had the good fortune of connecting with Imani Clarke and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Imani, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I knew that I wanted to provide a service to people that would benefit their skincare needs. I was adamant about our products being made with all natural and clean ingredients because there’s so many other skincare lines on the market that’s made with toxic and damaging ingredients. So when formulating Merraki Beauty products I wanted my customers to know exactly what they’re putting on their skin.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Merraki Beauty is a woman owned and black owned women’s skincare brand. What differs us from a lot of other skincare brands is that we use 100% natural & cruelty free ingredients in all of our products. Furthermore, every ingredient that we use benefits the skin in its own way. The road to getting where I am now was definitely not an easy one. I hit a lot of roadblocks like many business owners do when first starting out but I just stayed consistent with it and never let whatever I was going through stop me from my goal. I think that’s key when it comes to anything that you’re trying to accomplish in life.

My plans for Merraki Beauty is for it to be a worldwide brand, I believe that the sky is the limit. When people think of Merraki Beauty I want them to think of self care, self love, & confidence because our goal is for every person that uses our products to feel confident and beautiful in their skin.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well I’m currently based in NYC so the options are endless when it comes to having a good time. For food spots, I recommend Brooklyn Chop House, Ricardo’s steakhouse in Harlem. I would also go to a few rooftops to get a some good food & drinks while looking at the skyline, there’s plenty in the city to choose from.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Yes, the first person that comes to mind is my mom. She’s always played a huge role in all of my accomplishments and was always their to support me and offer her words of wisdom whenever I would get overwhelmed in the process of starting and operating a business.
