Meet Ian Easterbrook | HATDADDY Founder

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ian Easterbrook and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ian, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
HATDADDY started as a fun idea while I was on a beach trip a few years ago. Honestly, it all started because I had been growing my hair into a mullet, and I wanted to rock my mullet with a visor on the beach. When I went online to try and find a visor with some personality, the selection was pretty boring. So I figured I’d make my own!
The process took about a year and a half to fully get up-and-running; I work a full time job in the film industry so starting HATDADDY had to fit in on weekends and any bit of spare free time I could get.

What should our readers know about your business?
Honestly, I feel like HATDADDY is just getting started. The main factor that has gotten us this far is the team of people who believe in the vision and who have contributed their time, effort, and talents toward bringing HATDADDY to life. I’m excited to see HATDADDY grow, and continue to build a community of fun and positivity – life is short, let’s make the most of it!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For me, anything outside is a must – especially this time of year before it gets too hot. I always recommend a drink at Ladybird or New Realm Brewing and then hop on the Beltline and head towards Piedmont Park. Summerhill has one of my favorite bakeries/coffee shops for a lazy weekend morning – Little Tart Bakeshop. All kinds of great food over on the East Side as well… Kitty Dare, BoccaLupo, Victory Sandwich Bar, etc. The Georgia Aquarium, Atlanta Botanical Garden, and The High Museum are all awesome, and of course I always recommend a night at the Fox Theatre or Symphony Hall.
Lastly, no trip to Atlanta is complete without a visit to Johnny’s Hideaway and a end-of-night stop at the Clermont Lounge (at your own risk).

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe a huge thank-you to Ike, Sophie, Adam, Sihem, Kerlyn, Matt, Jake, John and all the folks who have participated in our content shoots and marketing campaigns. I can’t thank you all enough for the support, time, energy, brainstorming, filming, editing, etc that you have contributed to making HATDADDY come to life. It’s such a cool feeling to see a vision come to life, and it takes a team of people who believe in the vision to make it happen.
