We had the good fortune of connecting with Heather Krey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Heather, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Have you ever had one of those days where you come home completely dragging from the work day that you just completed?

This was me, on the regular. I am a Registered Nurse of almost 19years and found that my emotional burnout and compassion fatigue was at an all time high.

I remember coming home one day at 9:30pm and sitting at my kitchen counter complete drained. As not only a nurse, but also a mother and wife, I felt like I wasn’t enough. Enough mother, enough wife, enough nurse, enough ME.

I had no idea who I was other than my roles I held and I decided as I ate my dinner alone while my husband put the kids to bed for the 2nd time, that this had to change.

That was six years ago. I began leaning into activities and passions that lit me up. Like deepening my yoga practice, hiking and leaning into my spirituality and energetic bodies, and eventually became a certified Nurse coach.

I began my business to help others that are feeling this way too. That don’t know who they are, how they want to show up in the world. That are seeking more alignment and joy in their life. I teach people to get out of their heads and back into their bodies. Using movement, energy healing, mediation, journaling, nature. You get the drift…

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets me apart? I like to think that we all have our own unique and beautiful gifts to bring to this world. And that is how I view each and every person I connect with. Whether it is a personal relationship or professional. I see you whole. I have been known to be someone that you feel like you have known me forever, so those in my presence, whether that is for coaching, yoga, energy work, feel safe, held and supported.

How did I get here? Leaning in! 100%. I am a very intuitive person. I have learned to hone that intuition. Allow it to guide me. and I have also leaned into Vulnerability. Without it, I would still feel stuck! Hands up to Brene Brown!

Was it easy? Absolutely not… Entrepreneurship has the highest highs and the lowest lows. Taking a good hard look at myself. My shadows, my light, my idea of worth, my core values. All of it. It’s a constant check and balance. And I could never do it alone. my circle is my support.

Lessons I have learned? Life is Messy. Do it anyway. I am a recovering perfectionist. Overcoming my own limiting belief structures and befriending my ego has been everything.

another lesson… from Pain comes Creation. I have learned that our emotions are not caves, they are tunnels. Meant to take you somewhere you haven’t been able to think you could go before. In fact, I would dare to say that we put a ceiling on our dreams, we limit our own potential… so shoot for the stars and watch the universe open up for you.

what do I want the world to know… I see you! I hear you! and I love you! Keep going… your light is needed in this world.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh this is good.

First night… I would make them the most magical meal. I love to cook. Its one of my love languages. To create and serve a vibrantly colorful meal that nourishes the soul is “chef’s kiss”. After that we would sit on my back patio under the twinkle lights and listen to the evening sounds.

Mornings would be for conversation and coffee. Pourover to be exact. I’d bring them to all my favorite trails. Montgomery County and Miami County have great systems. Have them feel the cool water from my favorite local waterfall. We would go Paddle Boarding down the Great Miami River.

We’d hit up Yellow Springs and the trail systems there. And go to Aullwood to see the Trolls

Favorite coffee shops: Warehouse 4, Purebred, Pettibone.

Favorite breweries: Yellow Springs Brewery, Dayton Beer Company

And if Dave Chapelle was in town doing his comedy… we’d have to splurge to go see him!

My kids would want them to go to the skatepark and Mike’s Bikes Indoor Park. And I am sure we would take them to my husbands new firehouse.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Haha! Oh the list is ongoing! I am forever a student!

My husband, Jeff Krey for one. He has supported me since day zero!

All of my amazing colleagues in the Nurse Coach Collective, highlighting Anna Baker, Bina Bendale, Amanda Johnsen, Cindy Sammetinger.

and my amazing clients… without them, I couldn’t do what I do!
