We had the good fortune of connecting with Hasina Amira and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hasina, how do you think about risk?
The risk you didn’t take could be the reason you will never meet success. Entrepreneurship is full of risks from the beginning to the end. It will push you to do things you never thought you could do. As scary as risks can be it can potentially shape your future. Nothing is ever too risky!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am the creator and owner of Boujee Bakeries, in-home bakery. Everything I know is completely self taught. I call Boujee Bakeries my pandemic baby. I started a year ago when the pandemic hit, not knowing it would flourish into something so near & dear to my heart. This business was not planned. I feel that is what sets me apart from so many others. It was so genuine and authentic how is came about. Like everybody else in the world, I needed to find something positive and productive to do while in quarantine. I’ve always loved baking since a little girl but it was one of those pastimes that fade as you get older. The more customers I gained, the harder it became. It was not easy at all as a first time business-owner. Again, this was not originally the plan. Many times I got discouraged and super overwhelmed. You have to have a team for sure. Or just people who believe in you. It makes all the difference. My daughter’s father helped me balance my emotions a lot in the beginning. As well as late night store runs LOL. My mom, his mom. My dad was a huge motivator as well. I had a great village to lean on for sure. I also had to learn to get more organized. The biggest things I’ve learned this far is to remember practice makes perfect. Never doubt yourself. Accept all the help you can take. Always remember this is a passion. When it starts to feel like a job you’re doing it wrong. I want the world to know Boujee Bakeries is more than sweet treats. It’s a apart of my Boujee brand. Boujee is being confident even when you feel the opposite. It’s pushing through tough times. It’s breaking down barriers in life whether it be physically, mentally, or emotionally. Boujee is always showing up for yourself. Because it all starts with you!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Welcome to Atlanta 😉 First, we would go to brunch! I’m a freak for mimosas LOL. Breakfast at Barney’s. The Real Milk & Honey. Their choice. Next, we’ll head down to the Atlanta belt line. The scooters are so fun! They have great food as well. Lunch would be somewhere like Guac & Margys or Tacos & Tequila. One of my favorite restaurants I am addicted to is called True Food. It’s a great place for healthy home grown food that tastes delicious. Even the alcohol is healthy! I like to drink if you can’t tell. Some fun places I like to go in the city would be the Aquarium, Putt shack, Top Golf, Painting with a Twist, and Atlantic Station.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and fore more shout out to the Most High. God created my vision and seen it through. The push and motivation I have comes from my spirit guides. My motivation in human form is my daughter Yara Jones. An everyday reminder to keep going. This is for us!
