We had the good fortune of connecting with Hasan Green and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hasan, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I was called. I was chosen. I was given a gift from God above to bless the world through music. I believe it is my assignment and obligation to uplift, empower and encourage through melody and lyric. I started publicly singing at the age of 5. As a child prodigy I watched the hand of God bring elevation and great opportunities so I decided I would be obedient to the will of the father and follow his order concerning my life and my career. i have learned through the course of years that it is better to get it right the first time by hearing the voice of God instead of having it your way and then needing a Redo.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a singer! Full of soul and passion. Over time I have learned how to entertain and work the crowds. As a child I would stand in one spot and sing without engaging the audience, simply because I was afraid. Each time I stand to sing there is still some level of fear and nervousness, however, once the mic is in my hand-it’s showtime! My Gospel roots are very evident in whatever genre of music I’m singing. Soul is one of those things you just have to have. It can’t be bought or duplicated. When I was a senior in high school I started a Youtube channel and began posting videos of me singing. Those videos began gaining major views and recognition. Even so, I was invited to sing at my first international wedding in London, England. My style of singing is very versatile. Some would say “you can sing anything” lol, However I know my limits. Diversity has played a major role in expanding the platforms that I’ve been able to stand on. I am most proud of my 2001 appearance on It’s Showtime at the Apollo in New York City as an 11 year old kid. I have my aunt Melinda to thank for that. That particular performance set me up for the greatness to come! Also, singing and posting videos with my paternal grandmother would also contribute to the national recognition I have gained throughout the years. When it is all said and done I want the world to know and remember that I love music. I love to sing. Music has been my greatest contribution to my local community and the world abroad.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well now!! I live in Atlanta, GA where there is plenty to do. I love to eat! Let’s go to Virgil’s, Milk & Honey, Waffle House(my favorite restaurant), Fin & Feathers, The Bank, Backstage, Top Golf, Painted Pin, Slingshot or maybe we can just sit around and play spades. I love to play spades. Ponce City Market is also a great place to walk around to shop and eat. The rooftop goes hard. City Winery has some of the best concerts with your favorite artists headlining. Wolf Creek Amphitheater will definitely have a great outside summer concert. We could also take a trip to Grown Folkz Cafe to line dance with the Southside Steppers. If we don’t do anything else we are surely going to brunch. Some of my favorite brunch spots are Nouveau, Breakfast Boys, Thumbs Up Diner, Hob Knob, Flying Biscuit, Henry’s, Backstage, and Gocha’s Breakfast Bar.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shout out my team; my MSG & Holloway Families. They have been there every step of the way, never missing a beat. There are so many people who had a hand in making sure God’s promises were fulfilled in my life that I can’t name them all. However, I got my start and inspiration from my great grandmother Maudie Sue Green and my great Aunt Emma Sue Green Berry. They started their own female Gospel quartet group back in the 70s and went on to record two albums. I grew up listening to them sing praises to God and I wanted to do the same. Also, my Nana; my everything. She was always in my corner. My mother/father always encouraged me to use my gift in the greatest capacity ever. mYm Records of South Africa-they gave me a chance across the waters! They recorded my first international single “Tomorrow” and I’m forever grateful. Last but not least I have to thank Yolanda Marshall. She is responsible for having my latest southern soul single “Easy” played over the air. THANK YOU!
