We had the good fortune of connecting with Harli G and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Harli, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I created “Inside The Bubble with Harli G” podcast to provide a safe platform where women are able to connect and share their stories and experiences while inspiring and motivating purpose. I wanted to be able to provide women a platform where they can share their stories about growing up immigrant, not having enough time in the day, the daily struggles of taking care of others but not having enough time to care for themselves, or feeling guilty for taking time to do self-care, struggling with mental health or being a superwoman and not feeling like there is a place for you to hang you cape at the end of the day. I wanted to tell those women “You are not alone” Let’s build this community of support system together.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
By day I am known to be a Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP). To break it down, I support various departments at my company in providing HR support. On any given day, I could be partnering with managers on employee relations, performance management, organization structure, strategy, workforce planning or engagement, to name a few. HRBPs are the bridges that connect the employer with the employee. The aspect that I enjoy the most about this role is “The impact”! To know that in my role I not only help employees professionally but also personally is the part of my job that I enjoy the most. It’s so rewarding to have the opportunity to be a part of their journey.
And then there’s my Purpose. The Podcast. Wow! “Inside The Bubble with Harli G” allows me to walk in my purpose everyday. It allows me to use my core values (which are my foundation) to impact the world and the people around me. Passion: the drive and motivation that fuels me. Passion defines my physical, mental and spiritual state in which I approach life everyday. With passion one can overcome challenges, obstacles, inspire and influence. Energy: the way that I show up every single day. I am intentional about walking into a room and owning my presence. My energy is electrifying yet magnetic. No one can take that away. Influence: my unique ability to make an impact while providing guidance. To know that I am able to play a role in someone’s personal journey is one of the most rewarding aspects of my purpose. And Connection: my biggest strength: to make someone feel seen, heard, and valued no matter who they are, where they come from or what they do. I need connection just as much as someone needs their daily cup of coffee. My motto is “There’s Purpose in your story.”
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would start by having breakfast at the flying biscuit next to Piedmont park. It, hands down has the best grits you will ever have! After breakfast we would visit Piedmont park and walk through midtown and cap off the day by having dinner at Loca Luna on Amsterdam Walk.
Next day, let’s hit up Atlantic Station and and do a little eat, shop and walk there. Maybe grab some pizza at California Pizza Kitchen. We love art and anything creative so we would hit up Fox Theater and catch a play there.
Wednesday, start off the day in the Vinings area and get some breakfast at FirstWatch. Then hithead over to the Decatur farmer’s market to get some island spices. Love me some Haitian food.
Thursday, is lake day!!! Rent a boat on lake Allatoona and spend all day relaxing, dancing and enjoying the lake.
Friday is time to dance! We’re getting it in at the High museum for Jazz night at the High
Saturday breakfast at Reveille Cafe in Acworth and then we head over to the Howell Mill area for some much needed art and crafts. For lunch it’s Taqueria Del Sol and dinner we are turning it up at the Puttshack on Howell Mill for some drinks games and good vibes
And then there’s Sunday Brunch at Five Church in Midtown. I don’t need to say anything about that place. It speaks for itself.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout goes to my support system. Without them, there is no way I would be here. First and foremost my family (husband and kids). Then there’s the high school crew. We have been together for 26 years. Wow! Then comes the gym crew and the Supermodel360 crew and last but not least the sister circle. This support system feeds my soul.
