We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Nesbitt and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hannah, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
As a parent, the most important thing I think I’ve ever done was to allow my sons to become business owners at an early age. It was their own desire, but more importantly, I saw an opportunity for this experience to be educational as well as beneficial monetarily. As their mom, there is only so much that I can teach them (as they are growing into young men), but the one thing that will always stick with them is how to properly conduct business and how to manage money in an honest way.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The fact that we are kids automatically differs us from others. We are proud to say that we have been operating our home business for 6 years now. We are not quite professionals, but via homeschool training, we will be. It hasn’t been easy, but over the years, we have built confidence and just try to stay focused on accumulating more supporters. This business has taught us to always pay attention and to prioritize. Our business has taught us responsibility and the importance of time as well. We want the world to know that we are not just candy and cakes. We serve a deeper purpose. We promote education and encourage others to choose homeschool to learn the things school doesn’t teach us at our current age.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First, we would go skating and eat nachos with pickles. The next day, we would go to the bowling alley and play inside the arcade area and eat loaded french fries. The third day, we would go to Ridge Ferry park and play around on the exercise equipment. Normally, after the park, we may chill at Applebee’s and watch sports. The fourth day, we would go to the library, because we love “Big Nate” books. Afterwards, we would visit Sweet Frogs for a nice size bowl of yogurt.
The fifth day would be more like popcorn at the movies. As the weekend approaches, we would stay home, play video games, build forts, and indulge in cheese and pepperoni pizzas. The last day would probably consist of our mom cooking a big dinner and allowing our friend to take a few plates home!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Yes, so there is a special someone who we’d like to give major recognition to. Debarge Harris, a.k.a Sa’Ra Kwabena Sikafo with Descendants Of Phenomenal Eras (D.O.P.E). This is a movement that has inspired Jordan & Jahius to know their history as well as to spread the awareness/knowledge to their peers and community. Through this organization, the boys have had an opportunity to purchase land in a Pan-African village of Elmina, Ghana, Africa for diasporas or those returning home. I would like to also give a shoutout to myself, Hannah Nesbitt, owner of ProNatural Beauty & Health, LLC. As the single parent of three boys, I’ve managed to set examples for them that no one else can show them as well as I’ve managed to educate them at home for the past two years while operating my own business along with their’s from home.
