Meet Hannah Giles | Christian Writing and Self-publishing Midwife & Book Editor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Giles and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hannah, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process began with a burden. In August of 2019, God began to allow me to feel some of the burden that He feels concerning His children who are too afraid to write what He is telling them to or to share their testimony. I have always been a writer and knew how important it was for me to be obedient to the call to write, but He began to reveal to me that there were a lot of His people who needed help being obedient as well. As I began praying for these people, He gave me the vision for a writers’ retreat.
In December of that year, I hosted the retreat and God showed me that He was gracing me to work with the people that He prompted me to intercede for. My thoughts moving forward were that I needed to host the retreat every year. When COVID sparked the pandemic in 2020, I began to realize that though effective, writers’ retreats were not completely meeting the needs of the people I wanted to help. They needed to learn how to become writers in the midst of their busy schedules. They needed someone to encourage them and motivate them when they felt discouraged. They needed to learn the industry and self-publish without getting scammed out of their money, and they needed strategy, resources, community, and clarity to even take the first step.
So I started my business to offer services that would meet all of these needs. In addition to the writers’ retreats, they can now have help overcoming any obstacle that is hindering them from writing their books, curriculums, blogs, journals, courses, and podcasts!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am the creator and CEO of Hannah Giles Enterprises LLC. I help God’s people to write the things that will impact the world to see and know Jesus! I believe that we overcome in life through Jesus Christ and through the power of our testimony. I also believe that God plans to use His childrens’ voices to echo His truth and His glory in the earth.
What sets me apart from other businesses in this field is that I am equipped to help people to push past and overcome what is hindering them from writing in the first place. Most companies want their clients to only come to them when they have a completed manuscript, but I service the people who feel like achieving a completed manuscript is unattainable. I am able to work with the castaways and the disqualified and I love it! It excites me to know that there is a wave of content, books, and blogs coming that will impact readers in a positive way. The stories, testimonies, and wisdom that my clients and future clients have are what the world needs right now!
Technically, I have only been in business for less than a year, though I have been working with writers for a few years now. Despite being fairly new, getting to this stage has been rough! Easy is not a word that I would use to describe my process at all. I still face challenges and have not mastered being a businesswoman at all, but I have learned to prioritize God. If He is not prioritized, my life falls apart. I can get consumed with stress, overwhelm, being a mom, being a wife, and everything else, but He is my source. If I am connected to Him, I can continue to take the next step forward.
I have learned to be purpose-driven and eternity-focused instead of being money-focused. I know that when I align myself with God’s plan for my life, good things and accolades will come. Business-wise, I have learned to charge the prices that I deserve. What you charge will attract certain types of clients, unfortunately. Lastly, I have learned that there is no shame in starting again. If I fall off or fail, I silence my inner critic and launch again anyway!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First, I will be taking them to see my mom and my granny! We have to start off with lots of love, a home-cooked meal, and laughter. After finding a nice air bnb, we absolutely find out what events are happening in Atlantic Station or music events in Piedmont park and attend those while grabbing food and snacks in-between. Mexican food at La Parilla and Tin Lizzy’s is a MUST and honestly, we will most likely eat a lot of Mexican food. For Pizza, I love Slim & Husky’s on Howell Mill Rd. Appetizers from bonefish grill and steak from Del Frisco’s Grille. Lastly, dessert overload at sweet stacks creamery on piedmont ave or Insomnia cookies.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely! When it comes to starting up a business or doing anything new, you have to protect and shift your mind and your perspective on things. It was so hard for me to do these things alone, but I am grateful that I had support and encouragers along the way.
I first want to shout out the Holy Spirit because He is my constant teacher, strategist, encourager, and friend!
I also want to shout out my husband, Cameron, and my mother, Lisa! They both tag team me with reminders to rest, new ideas, love, support with my daughter, and encouragement! I could not be who I am every day without them.
Finally, I want to shout out Sasha Ledawn, the Encouragist herself! I joined one of her business coaching programs and she was integral in helping me to shift my mindset and create a strategy to build the foundation of my business. She mentored me in all things business, mindset, balance, and strategy!
