We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Cottingham and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hannah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Growing up, I never dreamed about owning my own business or becoming a photographer. I was actually gifted a camera probably five or six years ago, and ended up selling it because I never used it. It wasn’t until I because a mom that I wanted to learn how to take better pictures of my little ones. I borrowed a camera from a friend AndiI absolutely fell in love with it. I began taking pictures of everything and everyone I could. I quickly learned that I loved photography and could actually make money doing it! I dove head first into education and saving for better gear and the rest is history!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I believe in capturing joyful, timeless images you will look back on forever! There are countless photographers someone could choose to photograph their wedding day who would do an amazing job. But what sets me apart is my ability to bring peace into chaos, be their best encourager but also get things done, stay on timeline, and work well with all vendors and parties. All past HCP brides feel like close friends. In regard to family sessions, as a mom of two, I understand the importance of capturing each phase of life, because it truly does go so fast. I still remember the day we announced we were pregnant with pictures from a photoshoot and how fun it was. We had pictures that captured our excitement, and we still look back on them today. Little ones change so incredibly fast and I love capturing the little details so you can hold them in your memory forever.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Coffee at Pop’s Coffee Shop in Roswell, then brunch somewhere downtown Alpharetta, head to the city to spend a few hours at the aquarium, then eat somewhere in the city depending on what sounds good!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I know it’s cliche, but the number one person I want to thank is my husband, Alex. He has believed in me, pushed me, encouraged me, spent countless hours spending time with our little ones so I could be off photographing weddings and sessions. He truly is my biggest cheerleader.
I know that the Lord has blessed me with this gift and passion, and I love being able to use it to glorify Him!
