We had the good fortune of connecting with Gretchen Norman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gretchen, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Getting a good nights sleep is one of the best habits I have. Without being rested it is a lot easier to make mistakes. I am not the best I can be without my 8 hours. Also, taking time to excersie is vital to keeping my body healthy. This job is a lot harder on the body than many would ever imagine so doing a little yoga, pilates, and weights makes a big difference. Also, eating healthy foods keeps me energized.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
P.S. Sweets is an online bakery specializing in custom cookies, cupcakes, macrons and other confections. We craft one-of-a-kind solutions to make each customer experience special. Also, we offer some popular design options on our website that can easily be tailored to your needs. We strive to make each persons experience as easy as possible and respond to each inquiry as quickly as possible. Customer service is just as important to us as the high-quality ingredients we use.

Getting where we are today has taken a lot of hard work. But with our great products and wonderful customer service our name has spread by word of mouth. We have also done some networking and have met some other local vendors who have put us in a wonderful position. Jahlil of JMCallister Events was one of the first event planners we have worked with. She has been a vital part of our growth. Both of our businesses have grown up together and a small part of her beautiful parties. Since working with her we have had the opportunity to work with many other of Atlanta’s premier event planners.

We love creating sweets to make all of the special moments in your life extra special. This is what truly brings us joy is seeing the smile or tears of joy when you see the treats we made for you or your special someone. This is what makes all of the long hours worth it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There are so many wonderful places in the city to visit. A few of my favorite places around the city to take people are the Georgia Aquarium, the Atlanta Botanical Graden, and the Beltline. The rooftop at Ponce City Market is so much fun with its view, games, and food. Little Five Points is one of my all-time neighborhoods in Atlanta. It has remained its glorious quirky self. The Vortex has some of the best burgers in the city. One of our other favorite places is downtown, Decatur. It has many great neighborhood restaurants and shops. We love The Iberian Pig, Raging Buritto, and Butter and Cream. You can’t forget about Your Dekalb Farmers Market either for a great variety of fresh produce.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
P.S. Sweets wouldn’t be where it is today if it wasn’t for my amazing husband, Derek. He is my sounding board, and steps in where needed. My kids are also another reason I’m doing what I am doing. It is important to be there for them but also to be a great role model. My extended family has also been amazingly supportive as well. I am truly blessed to have so many supportive people on my side. Having great friends who have an entrepreneurial spirit also helps as well. Sunshine Levin is an amazing friend with great business advice.
