We had the good fortune of connecting with Glendora Dvine and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Glendora, what inspires you?
What inspires me is the history of my ancestors that was negative and positive. Many inspirations get me up and motivated to move forward even when times are hard. The little girl that lives inside of me didn’t have a mother to raise her or a father with quality time to share is another inspiration. I am inspired by my spirituality and the reality of the family I created. My knowledge of generational curses that are in my family and knowing I can end them with my legacy is a true inspiration to me.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets my business apart from other counseling private practices is that I specialize in EMDR and CBT treatment. I also became a power player in mental health in my community by making intentional networking connections. At Dvine Systems GA we are the parent company for Dvine Systems Academy where we educate other mental health professionals on how to build, scale, and grow in business using Telemental Health. My business loves to volunteer in the community letting others know that counseling is #goodtrouble. We also put on mental health awareness panels bringing awareness and enlightenment about mental health disorders. It has not been easy to get where I am today in business (making six figures and changing from an LLC to an S corp). It has been many days where I got up and went forward when I didn’t want to, whether it was from fighting breast cancer, being a mother, being a wife, losing my father, not having peers around me that wanted to see me win, not knowing what to do next for my business. I always knew I was supposed to do more than the normal more than was expected of me when I looked in the mirror or looked back at my ancestral linage. I was never satisfied with the life my mother lived and I used that as a marker that I knew I must surpass. I felt that my father could have done more for my brothers and me other than provide food, education, and shelter. I desired as a young adult to know how to grow money, how to make money, and how to save money. What has been easy is to not give up and to be consistent in my daily actions. Whenever I felt that life was getting too hard I would think of what life would be if I quit. Consistency is the key to success and getting around people that can nourish that mindset is priceless. I am most proud of being able to live in a nice home, drive a nice car, maintain my marriage, and have a teenager who is open to learning and trying new things. I am so proud that my daughter has been able to witness my work of serving others. I am proud that my husband is proud of my work as a business owner, mother, and wife. It warms my heart and mind when he tells me out of the blue. I feel that I have killed generational curses that plagued my family for years by creating and running a successful business and having a family unit that is connected. For me to get to the position I am today in business, it took me to change my mindset with money. Open a new relationship with it in my mind and end the one I grew up with. Understand that money is a good thing to help me help others. I had to financially invest in myself without asking for permission. Once I invested, I had to take action, invest my time. Procrastination has no place at the table of Taking Action. I had to silence old noise. Meaning I had to stop talking to people I use to talk with and find new people that were business-minded. I had to get into rooms and sit at tables where the conversations were different and some of the conversations I knew I wasn’t going to be able to add to but I still had to be in the room and at the table. I moved on purpose, the purpose of excelling in my life through my business.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Some of the most fun and interesting places to hang out are restaurants. I love to travel all over the world through food. I love to eat and feel that is the best way to comfort someone who is not feeling their best. Eating different cuisines can be so entertaining when dining. Embracing different cultures and learning history is a life journey all on its own. Many people miss out on living because they eat the same old thing day in and day out. Another place that is truly exciting to me is the beaches. I love to look over a balcony at the water surrounding the beach. I feel such a spiritual connection when looking out at an ocean. People get caught up in the daily hassle of fast-moving and forget about the simple things in life and the creations that are all around us. Sitting at a beach enjoying the time as it slowly moves by I feel is a great way to have conversations, relax, and laugh out loud.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I honestly want to shoutout my husband. I am truly thankful for his support and encouragement. He has been there to cheer me on when I wasn’t even thinking about what’s next. I lost a child at 6 1/2 months and I was laying there in disbelief days after. He came to me with information on how and where I could complete my education. He pointed out that it was something that I was saying I wanted to complete before pregnancy. He continues to back me when I take a business risk and verbally tells me that I inspire him when it comes to making business moves. I would like to shoutout, Yaunte Dvine for being a true Black King by protecting, honoring, and providing for me for the past 21 years.
