We had the good fortune of connecting with Giovanni Gonzales and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Giovanni, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I chose to pursue music because it is my passion. Music has always helped me cope with different situations from the heights, to the lows of my life. While attending UNC Charlotte, I would make music with pretty much all of my down time. While you would think being a college kid means partying and all that, that wasn’t me. I was more interested in getting better at my craft. That’s when I knew music is what I wanted to be doing. I also love the idea of being your own boss.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When I make music, I like to create every element from scratch. I can play drums and I taught myself how to play piano. So I like to use my skill set to make unique loops and sounds that are signature to my style of creating music. I get so much satisfaction from starting a beat from silence, all the way to a vibe. Making music is a form of manifestation because you are bringing an intangible idea to life. I am still trying to grow my musical career day by day. I think making connections is key in the music industry and plays a vital role in your success. Just be yourself and be genuine. Take opportunity when you see it! Even if that means stepping out of your comfort zone, because that’s when great things start happening. One day I would love to see everyone around the world bumping my music.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We are definitely going out dirt bike riding and grilling out for a day or two. You can’t go wrong with some burgers, carne asada and el pastor tacos with some beers to wash it down. After that, we can get some studio time in at by bro Prolific’s place to catch some vibes and make some music. Ruth Chris Steakhouse is definitely on the itinerary one of the nights because that cowboy ribeye is a must have. After the steak, we gotta go up to Fahrenheit to have a rooftop drink. I am into guns so you can’t stop by my place without going to the range to shoot some rounds off. I have a studio at my house, so of course we would get the daily reps in. K2 go carts is also a crazy good time if you like fast go carts.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I definitely believe it is important to have other people in your corner while chasing the goals you want. Prolificyouafool and Jaron Smalls are two amazing music creators that have really showed me nothing but love and support from the first time I met both of them. I really am blessed to have met some good people to steer me in the right direction.
