We had the good fortune of connecting with Geoffrey Boyd and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Geoffrey, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I believe that having the discipline to maintain consistency along with the willingness to learn from mistakes while picking up new ideas was the key to the growth and movement we have seen with Outdoors With Geoff. I looked at what was and wasn’t resonating with my audience and adjusted my video and content format to give people what they needed while staying true to myself. I love teaching and showing people about barbecue my way.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Honesty. Empathy. Communication. Accountability. These are all built into the edifice of a People & Results Driven Leader. In leading large groups of people over the past ten years, I’ve come to realize a couple of things. I don’t have all of the answers and I don’t have to know everything. We just have to work together as a team and rely on and learn from those around us with detailed specialties or understanding to our goals. I also feel that if an individual cares, then they don’t come to work to do a bad job. If results aren’t to expectation, it may just not be a good fit and placing someone in an area they are more suited for, or a breakdown in communication they are receiving.
It’s always great to take groups of people and figure out issues and work toward a common goal where we can all succeed and empower folks to do more while removing hurdles out of their way. This is how we build the next generation of corporate leaders or leaders in any organization.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For evening entertainment, one of my go to Spots in Atlanta is Cigar City Club in Sandy Springs. The atmosphere, food and live music are great and its a great place to smoke a cigar and escape. As for meals, the fusion blends at Poor Calvin’s never disappoint and for the more traditional meal with a high end touch, I got to Chops. As for general fun, an all time favorite is Piedmont Park. I’ll take a couple of camping chairs and table with my Sportbrella and enjoy the day flying the drone and checking out the rest of the city from the sky.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to Jessica Fields, my better half, partner and the other half of Outdoors With Geoff. This was started as a Pandemic Project in 2020 as a way for me to get out barbecue techniques to the public and show that it can be easy. I have to say that content creation is not easy and Jessica kept me going with fresh ideas, thoughts and support during the highs and the lows. We would not be here without you Babe.
