We had the good fortune of connecting with Genevieve Stevens and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Genevieve, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success, is my daughters. I was so in love with my children and I always took photos, but they were never the photos you saw photographers posting. I went and had a session done of me and my girls and fell in love with how clear and vibrant the images were. I eventually decided to get my first camera and began doing photos of my children and absolutely fell in love with photography! When I would share the photos of my daughters I took, people began reaching out inquiring about photos for their families. I ultimately decided that I wanted to capture special moments in other peoples lives as well. So, I began my business as Special Moments by Genevieve.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I feel like my photography sets me apart from others, because what I value is a bit different. I know a lot of things in the business world is making your money from the things that you do, but I don’t see it that way. Photography can be super expensive and in this world right now some things you want, are just things you can’t afford to get. I try to be understanding and reasonable with my prices. Currently, I try and offer one day a month where at least 5 families can come get photos done at a super discounted price. It’s something that I love to be able to offer. When I started this business, money was not the first thing that came to mind. I wanted to be able to create photos with people that would last a life time. Seeing the smiles and excitement on the faces of my clients, has made it all worth it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The trip would start on my side town and we would go to the square and dine at this amazing little restaurant called La Hacienda. After, we would go and do some photos around town! The square has some great spots for photos. After my side of town on the first day, we would have to go into Atlanta! There is so many great places to eat and visit while there! If we are hungry they have The Capital Grill, Chops Lobster Bar and the Atlanta Fish Market! We could grab drinks at a popular spots such as Pop the Cork Wine Tours. We could visit the Georgia Aquarium while in Atlanta or do some of the bus tours they offer as well! The City has so many great places to visit and see. We could go and have some fun at The PuttShack or Top Golf.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The people in my life who deserve the most recognition is God, my husband and children. Without my husband Landon, I wouldn’t have been able to do what I love as much as I wanted. I stayed home for years with my kids and I was able to focus mainly on my photography. He supported my dreams and has always been by my side. My children are my inspiration and without them, I would have never loved photography the way that I do. Without God and my family, I don’t think I would be where I am today. They’re my biggest inspirations.
