We had the good fortune of connecting with Gary Beauford and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gary, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Well I wanted to give back to the ATL Dance community in a way that would help it to grow, so when opportunities came the community as a whole would be prepared for them wether it be working with an artist, tour, television or film

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Well I’m a dancer, teacher & choreographer in ATL entertainment industry. I have worked with Kanye West, Keith Sweat, Xscape & Rihanna just to name a few. I have taught around the country as well as overseas& have built a name for myself in the dance industry by the grace of God! It hasn’t been an easy road & this year has marked 20 years working in this industry. I started my career in 2002 in Washington DC on Culture Shock DC which is a non-profit organization design to train dancers to be professional & work in todays industry. I trained with the company for 5 1/2 years before I moved to ATL to pursue my career full time. From there it has been nothing but grinding, hard work & the grace of God to get me to where I am today!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well I would be at the dance studio! lol this is where I Have lived & still live as of today, I take my craft serious & all my friends do to so taking dance class everyday or 5 days a week was & is my favorite thing to do. You can catch me at Xcel Talent Agency or Xcel Studios, or Groove2musik taking some of my favorite teachers & choreographers in the city. But after class eat was def a thing & we would be starving lol so we would hit spots like Flying Biscuit, Cookout, Chick-fil-A, Waffle House, or Fellinis Pizza. Outside of dancing we would hit spots like Andretti Indoor Karting & Games or Main Event we could play pool, bowling, laser tag, or just get a drink & catch up just on wine & have some fun

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Def want to give a Hugh S/O to Jonathan Bryant for hook up on this interview & def want to give a S/O to Groove2musik! Groove has helped me & the community grow & develop in such an amazing way. Last but not least want to give a S/O to my agent Aris & Xcel Talent!
