We had the good fortune of connecting with Gaëlle Berruel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gaëlle, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
Success is freedom and peace. Free to work with whom I want and where I want. It’s to have this freedom in terms of time, energy and money. But, most importantly, it’s the freedom to be unapologetic about me, authentic, genuine, strong and vulnerable.
It means also peace to me because you reached a stage in your life when you don’t need to prove anything to anyone. Instead, you feel grounded, poised because you trust yourself, you know your strengths and weaknesses, and you accept where you are. It’s only from this place of acceptance and compassion that you can continue to learn more about yourself.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
About my story, it started this way.
Coming back from my holiday in France, I was on the Eurostar train with my husband and daughter. I spent a fantastic holiday where I ate amazing food, where there was a quality of life that I dived into it wholeheartedly. So, I was in this specific place where you feel good and at peace. I thanked the Universe (God, Spirit, whatever you want to call it) because I was SO grateful for everything I had.
And this is when this voice piped up: “Gaelle, you achieved everything you set your mind to. Everything that you wanted to (good job, getting married, having a child) and now, what’s next?” I thought: It’s true, what’s next? Life is not JUST this, there’s more, and I want MORE of my life. So, what’s in it for me?
From this moment, my curiosity was on fire. I dived into personal development, learned everything from energy, mindset, spirituality, neurosciences and wellbeing. It was like discovering the Ali Baba cavern. I fell in love with Mindset, Metaphysics and Energy. I created my new bubble of happiness. But I saw so many women struggling with their insecurities that I couldn’t stay on the sidelines. There was too much pain, suffering, and I knew how to help them. From this day, I committed to helping women. The more I committed to it, the more this decision made my life incredible. I fell in love with public speaking and became a Motivational Speaker and a Mindset Mentor.
Now, I am
I’m the founder of a wellness company entitled A Rockstar Mindset. I’m helping corporate spiritual mavens and women leaders to escape their 9-5 struggle and create their business or a new career with ease so they become the Rockstar of their life bold, visible and authentic unapologetically. So, in a nutshell, I’m helping them say adios amigos to Self-Sabotage Land, their mind gremlins and the hustle-bustle mentality and say yes to creating rock-solid foundations for their business or new career from a place of peace, ease and grace.
What sets me apart from others
My authenticity, energy, and strong desire to help them succeed in this journey make me stand out because I’m authentic, care for, and believe in them. They have the results they want from a place of ease, excellence and elegance. They feel understood and supported beyond their expectations because I care with a capital C and am professional and friendly.
I believe that escaping your 9-5 struggle is not only a question to have a career or business strategy with tools, hacks and principles; it’s so much more. It’s to have a wellness plan to transition from being where you are to where you want to be with excellence, ease and elegance. Unfortunately, we have been conditioned to believe that a roadmap from point A to point B is the sole solution. Still, there’s a missing and essential point to ensure that your wellbeing, energy and mindset are aligned with your new direction from a professional perspective.
This is what I do with my clients. I help them from a business and wellness perspective to make this transition from a place of ease in alignment with their uniqueness and personality. I’m very proud of my client’s results, being happy and successful in their new careers or businesses. They’re confident, optimistic and unapologetically themselves.
I have to say that it wasn’t all rainbows and unicorns to become a woman entrepreneur. I worked full time as a Risk Manager and Head of Wellbeing Communications in Banking, working on my business evenings and weekends.
I wish that I worked with a Wellness & Business Mentor to make this transition less stressful and be more immune to this hustle-bustle culture. However, I never regretted my choice because I’m passionate and love what I do. I believe in women, their potential, creativity, and when women support together, miracles happen.
What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way?
I have to face my self-limiting beliefs, mind gremlins, and fears regularly and make it a practice to build a healthy relationship with my mind to avoid going into Self-Sabotage Land. It’s so easy to listen to your monkey voice and let this negative voice be the creative director of your life. But the key is to be aware of it, and like a muscle, build your self-awareness and overcome these obstacles with compassion and love.
And let me tell you something, at first it’s not easy because we didn’t learn at school how to be our cheerleaders and develop a healthy relationship with our emotions, but when you know to do it, you start to be unstoppable. You begin to honour, acknowledge your feelings, listen to your body, be more in tune with your intuition and trust yourself.
I also learn to stretch my comfort zone daily, which our ego doesn’t like at all. Nonetheless, the more you do it, the easier you become; it’s an ongoing practice. I deepened my spirituality and learned to let go of my perfectionism (I’m a recovery perfectionist!) and my workaholic tendencies as an Ascendant Virgo.
I also learned to recognise when resistance knocks on my door and be curious about it instead of blaming myself. As a result, I’m no longer sabotage myself in the process; I step back and drop into presence and curiosity.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend Morgane comes to see me, we will eat at Las Iguanas; it’s a Latin American Restaurant & Bar where the food is delicious; we’ll walk in Hyde Park and have a break at Le Pain Quotidien. Their matcha lattes and scones are so so good.
We’ll go to Covent Garden for the beauty and diversity of the market and the chance to hear talented singers. In the evening we’ll eat at Momo, a Moroccan restaurant where the food is delicious. Momo is burnished all gold and silver, with low hanging Moroccan lanterns; it’s a trip in Morocco.
We’ll go to Camden Town; this is an eclectic area that I love for its market and village.
We’ll check out Koko, the Underworld and Electric Ballroom to catch the latest bands and watch top jazz and blues performances at the Jazz Café or Blues Kitchen.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to my best friend Morgane. No matter where I was in my journey, she always supported me in my projects, encouraged me to believe in myself and helped me to stay grounded and funky.
I want to dedicate this shoutout as well to all the women entrepreneurs I met who always supported me, encouraged me to step up as a wellness leader and collaborated with me on many occasions to create incredible interviews and summits. I would not have been able to do it without you, and I’m taking this opportunity to thank you again from the bottom of my heart.
