Meet Frenchie Burks | CPT, ASPT, Owner of Burks Phlebotomy On The Go, LLC

We had the good fortune of connecting with Frenchie Burks and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Frenchie, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
Being a parent, I believe the most important thing that I have done as a parent in terms of the impact on my children is push through anything to get to your goal and to never give up. In life, there will always be obstacles and challenges trying to prevent you from your goal. Don’t let nothing or no one stop you. Children watch their parents and imitate what they see. I want to teach my children to not give up on their dreams. I didn’t give up. A year and a half ago, I would not have thought I would have two businesses. It just shows you can do anything if you put your mind into it. I had to push through regardless of my situation. You have to stay focused. It will be worth it at the end.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business, Burks Phlebotomy On The Go, LLC, was started last year during the pandemic. I am an experienced medical professional who put your healing needs first. I started this business to help my community. I am proud to provide a high quality level of customer service, medical experience, and commitment to health and wellness to all of my patients by bringing lab services to them in the comfort of their home, facility, or office. My goal is to make the patient feel better as quickly as possible by getting their specimen safely and efficiently to the lab. There are so many patients who have transportation issues, mobility issues, anxiety issues, and among other issues who needs their labs drawn. Regular blood testing is one of the most important ways to keep track of your overall physical well being. Patients do not have to leave their home. I am a mobile laboratory. My services I offer are: blood collection, urine collection, specimen drop off, DNA Paternity Testing, Sneak Peek Early Gender Testing, Paramedical Exams, Speciality Testing, and DOT and Non DOT Employment Drug Testing. I am most proud of myself for not giving up and pushing through. This has not and still not easy. I was working a full time job and taking care of my brother, who has recently passed due to brain cancer, at the same time I was trying to build my business. I just had to keep pushing and thinking of the bigger picture. I want my children to see and know that their mother can and will get through anything. I want to leave a legacy behind. Some of the lessons that I have learned are: 1. Always do your own research. 2. If you want something bad enough, you will work hard for it. 3. Market, Market, Market.
I want the world to know that if I can do it someone else can do it. I am still building my brand and getting my name out there, but I know it is possible and it will happen. Burks Phlebotomy On The Go, LLC is a Independent Mobile laboratory that can come to your home, office, or facility. I worked for LabCorp for 4 years. I took everything that I learned from them and opened my own business. I can do everything they offer do plus more. Manifest your dreams and don’t give up on your dreams.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a friend visiting the area and I wanted to show them the best time ever, we would definitely have to go eat seafood at Boil Bay and drink Long Island Ice Tea’s or we will drive to Richmond to check out Mama J’s, a soul food restaurant. I love Williamsburg. I will make sure we go shopping at the Outlets and eat at Captain George’s Seafood. I haven’t went yet, but have so many great things about The Kabana Rooftop in Richmond. Since my friend is visiting, we will check that out. Richmond Virginia has many spots to hang at.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The person that I feel deserves a little credit and recognition in my story is my husband, Josh. For years, I was fascinated about blood and going to school for phlebotomy. At the time, I was a single mom and couldn’t afford the cost. When I got into a relationship with my husband, I told him I wanted to go to school for phlebotomy but never could save enough money to do it due to bills. We had been married maybe a year and a half. He asked me was I still interested in going. I said yes. He had saved his money for me to take the course. He paid for it for me. And that is how I became a phlebotomist. He listened to me. He has always been supportive and have my back in any situation. He pushes me to want to become a better person. We are definitely a team. Josh deserves a lot of credit and recognition. Thank you Boo for everything!
