Meet Fredrick “kyngsyx” Buffington | Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Fredrick “kyngsyx” Buffington and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Fredrick “KyngSYX”, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
At The KYNGSYX Ensemble, our mission goes beyond crafting luxury goods—we’re here to inspire and celebrate the relentless pursuit of greatness in every individual. Each piece in our collection is carefully designed to be more than a product; it’s a symbol of resilience, ambition, and personal achievement.
Whether it’s the LAPREUVE Extrait de Parfum, which captures the essence of self-confidence, or the HALO handbag that empowers through timeless elegance, every creation is a tribute to those chasing their dreams—be it career goals, family milestones, or health journeys.
We believe in celebrating the stories behind every individual: the late nights, the sacrifices, the wins—big or small. Through our brand, we aim to uplift and honor these journeys, reminding people that their hard work deserves recognition.
Additionally, we actively support initiatives that amplify underrepresented voices and create opportunities for meaningful change. From collaborations with other small businesses to platforms like Black Owned Fragrance Week, we’re committed to being a positive force in our community and beyond.
Our pieces aren’t just accessories or fragrances—they’re tokens of encouragement, reminding you to keep striving and living boldly, no matter where your journey takes you.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart is my relentless ambition, unshakable competitiveness, and refusal to quit. I approach every challenge with a positive mindset—where others might see the glass as half full, I see it as three-quarters full. I believe that every setback is just another opportunity to grow and refine my craft.
What excites me most is the ability to not only pursue my own goals but to bring others along on the journey. I’m deeply passionate about building up and pouring into those around me, whether it’s through mentorship, collaboration, or simply sharing my story. For me, success isn’t just about what I accomplish individually but about the impact I can have on others along the way.
I’m most proud of my ability to inspire and help others while striving for my own goals. Seeing someone else light up with confidence, feel empowered, or achieve their own milestones because of something I shared or encouraged—that’s what truly fuels me. It’s not just about chasing dreams; it’s about creating a ripple effect that inspires others to do the same.
My journey to where I am today professionally has been a true testament to trial and error. Nothing about this path was promised, and every goal I’ve pursued came with risks. I actually began my design career creating logos, graphics, and websites for other businesses. Along the way, I made plenty of mistakes—enough to knock me down if I didn’t have a resilient spirit. But I kept going, and that persistence shaped the foundation of who I am today.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is patience—not just with the process, but with people. Humans are so fascinating and unique, and for a long time, I struggled with the expectation that others would approach situations the way I do. The truth is, we’re all different for a reason. Instead of being frustrated by those differences, I’ve learned to embrace them and grow from those experiences.
What I want the world to know about me and my brand is simple: my purpose is to motivate and celebrate others. I don’t mind the failures or struggles I’ve faced because I truly believe they’re part of my story for a reason. Those experiences give me the ability to connect with and inspire others who may be navigating their own challenges.
As a person and as a brand, I am here to encourage others in their pursuit of greatness and to celebrate them along the way. My mission is to be a source of inspiration and empowerment for anyone striving to be their best self.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting, I’d curate an itinerary that balances amazing food, culture, laughs, and competitive fun—Atlanta style! Here’s how we’d do it:
Food & Dining
Breakfast: Start the day off at Flying Biscuit Café—their creamy grits are out of this world.
Lunch or Dinner: A stop at Tastee Spoon is non-negotiable. The Jamaican flavors and vibe there always hit the spot.
Casual Night Out: For late-night eats and drinks, we might swing by Slutty Vegan or grab some wings at JR Crickets—you can’t do ATL without wings!
Entertainment & Fun
Culture: We’d hit the Trap Music Museum to soak in the culture and artistry of Atlanta’s music scene. For something a bit unexpected, the Fernbank Museum is a must-visit—it’s always a vibe with its mix of science and natural history exhibits.
Laughs: A night at the ATL Comedy Theater is mandatory. They’ve never let me down when it comes to good laughs.
Shopping: A visit to Phipps Plaza is perfect for a high-end shopping experience (even if we’re just window-shopping).
Activity & Competitive Fun
Hoops: Of course, we’d get in a couple of private CEO Hoop runs at the Salvation Army. Nothing beats good runs with great people.
Games: To cap off the trip, we’d head to Main Event or Dave & Buster’s for some competitive arcade fun. Whether it’s bowling, virtual reality, or hoops, it’s the perfect way to close things out with laughs and energy.
Why Atlanta Stands Out
This itinerary blends the best of Atlanta’s food, culture, and community. From soulful eats to creative spaces like the Trap Music Museum, and from high-end shopping to low-key hoop sessions, there’s a little something for everyone. It’s all about making memories, enjoying good company, and immersing yourself in what makes ATL so special.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely!
First and foremost, I have to give credit to my family. They have been my rock, always excited and unwaveringly supportive of every business venture I’ve started. Whether it’s a win, a loss, or somewhere in between, they constantly send me reminders that they believe in me, and that kind of love and encouragement is truly priceless.
Secondly, I want to acknowledge the incredible entrepreneurial community here in Atlanta—the cream of the crop, as I like to call them. People like Rod and Danielle of Marva Elain, Opu’Lence Stylehouse, Bella Blaq, Christal Jordan, Katrina Curtis, and so many others have played a pivotal role in my journey. These are individuals who have been in the entrepreneurial saddle themselves, and they’ve encouraged, mentored, and poured into me at various points in time. Their support and wisdom have been invaluable.
Lastly, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Mr. Chris Classic of Savoir Faire. He’s someone I’ve admired for years—since my days back in Arkansas over five years ago. He’s a true trailblazer in the fragrance and fashion industry. When I moved to Atlanta, I had the privilege of connecting with him, and he’s been nothing but supportive of my goals and aspirations. His influence and belief in what I’m building have meant so much to me.
To all these people and more, I owe a huge part of my story. They’ve shown me what community, mentorship, and belief can do for a person’s journey, and for that, I’m eternally grateful.
