We had the good fortune of connecting with Fonda S and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Fonda, why did you pursue a creative career?
From a very young age, I was around women who created. My grandmother made quilts by hand, her Sunday’s best, and clothes for the family. I was exposed to creativity very early on and it piqued my interest. It piqued my interest so much that I imagined being an interior designer. When I was younger, before things became digital, JCPenney would send out these thick store catalogs. I would go through the home section of the magazines and furnish my imaginary house with items that I had seen in the store catalogs.

I have spent my life doing things that were creative in nature. After spending my entire adult life working for others, I realized that it was now my time to pursue endeavors that I had pushed back for so long. It wasn’t until after I did my time in the Army that I decided to create Rejuve Jar. Starting my own business allowed me to be as creative as I had always desired to be. Inherently, I was influenced to create and that is why I pursued a creative career.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My work focuses on creating natural skincare products with sustainable ingredients and packaging for the body with a specialty in facial care. I am most proud of myself for starting and carrying this business alone. I have managed to create a company with 26 products and counting in just three years. Even though Rejuve Jar is only in its 3rd year of business, I am optimistic about the possibilities of expansion and growth. It is definitely not easy and anything worth having or doing, never really is.

The hardships and challenges are all worth it when a customer can say to me that my products have helped them with something they are struggling with or have struggled with. I’ve learned along the way that comparison is the thief of joy and comparing yourself to anyone will not do any good for you. I want the world to know that Rejuve Jar was created to help people with their skincare problems and we’ll stop at nothing to make sure that as many people as possible know about the brand.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If someone were visiting Savannah, I’d honestly take them to all of my favorite thrift stores. I am a big thrifter and I would want for them to share that excitement with me. I am a homebody and I’d be lying if I said that I would take people to this place or that place here in my city. I’d honestly just encourage them to relax around the house, go out for the occasional bite to eat, and distress.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my grandmother Shirley who influenced me to be the creative person that I am.

I would also like to dedicate this shoutout to the women in the Armed Forces who have been victims of sexual assault and who continue to fight and stand up to the injustices that were done to us in the military.
