We had the good fortune of connecting with Folami Geter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Folami, how does your business help the community?
I am the owner of A Peace of Soul Vegan Kitchen in Columbia, SC. We’re a 100% Plant-Based Southern Comfort Food Cafe in the heart of the South. We offer delicious alternatives to your favorite conventional dishes.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a second generation restauranteaur! My father established one of the first all plant-based restaurants in the Southeast, and the first in Columbia, SC. I purchased the restaurant in 2014 after working in corporate America in various capacities. I was raised vegetarian and I’ve never eaten meat so I prepare the food that I’ve eaten all of my life. I’ve been able to grow the business into a recognizable brand that’s garnered national attention, that’s a task in itself considering that Columbia, SC is such a small market. I’ve encountered lots of obstacles along the way but I’ve managed to stay the course with the help of a dedicated team and a supportive community.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The best thing about Columbia is the people! We’re courteous, pleasant, and kind to visitors. Riverbanks Zoo has a beautiful Botanical Garden, Saluda Shoals is a peaceful and serene nature preserve, and Riverfront Park has a great walking trail. After a full day you definitely want to grab some food from A Peace of Soul!

I dedicate this shout out to Jessica Boyd my Brand Manager and close friend. She’s been instrumental in helping me bring visibility to my brand.
