We had the good fortune of connecting with Felicia Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Felicia, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Saving a life is a universal need that transcends all boundaries. It shouldn’t matter where you live, your income, or your social status—everyone deserves the chance to be a hero. That’s the heart of CPRWrap. It all began for me from a very personal place when I feared losing my son and felt utterly helpless. That moment changed everything for me. CPRWrap was created to empower everyday people—parents, caregivers, and neighbors—to step up confidently in emergencies. Before our recent partnership, CPRWrap had already been making strides by distributing kits to underserved schools and communities here and abroad. We’ve always been committed to giving back, ensuring that lack of resources never means losing a life. What’s truly exciting is our new partnership with the Maternal World Health Organization, based in Atlanta. With their support, we can now extend our reach nationwide, powered by donations from individuals who believe in our mission to democratize life-saving knowledge and tools. This collaboration helps us not just to widen our impact but ensures that we are all part of a larger movement towards better-prepared communities, where everyone can have access to life-saving resources. With our Heartbeat Hero initiative, we are building a world where saving a life is within anyone’s reach.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
CPRWrap is not just a business; it’s a piece of my heart, born from a personal journey that began with a terrifying moment when I almost lost my baby. In that instant of helplessness, I realized there had to be something better to help parents and caregivers perform CPR quicker and more efficiently. Despite lacking expertise in R&D, Manufacturing, Intellectual Property protocols, or anything business related, I threw myself into learning, navigating through incubators and fellowships like LaunchChattanooga, Techstars, the Tory Burch Fellowship, Halcyon, and Black Ambition to gather the skills and resources needed. The journey hasn’t been easy at all! Along the way, I faced challenges that were both surprising and disheartening. One of the most striking incidents was being advised by a mentor that my being the face of CPRWrap as an African American woman was holding back the company’s success. As the first black female patented inventor of a CPR product in the world, I was told that having someone else represent my brand—someone white—could instantly transform it into a multimillion-dollar enterprise. It was shocking not only to hear such an outdated perspective but to realize that some still believe in sidelining personal truths for profit. I overcame this challenge by rejecting that advice outright. My experience, which was deeply personal, was the very reason I invented CPRWrap. Almost losing a child does something to you. For me, it motivated me to work harder and push through the many barriers that came our way. This journey has been mine, shaped by my story and determination. Today, CPRWrap stands as an award-winning innovation, making a real impact by saving lives across the globe. It’s a testament to what authenticity and perseverance can achieve, and it’s driven by the belief that everyone’s story matters, just as much as their potential to make a difference.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had a friend visiting Georgia I’d take them to some hidden gems and cool hangouts. I would take them to By George near Georgia State University, they have solid vibes, down-to-earth and the cornbread muffins are perfect! Honestly, some of the best I’ve had. Then, for something a little different, I’d slide over to Taqueria Del Sol for their tacos. There’s something about their casual vibe that just feels right. If you’re up for something soulful and a bit spicy, Poor Calvin’s downtown brings Southern soul food with a Thai twist and crazy flavors. And don’t sleep on Desta Ethiopian Kitchen in Briarcliff; their platters make you feel like you have traveled to another country. For drinks and chill, I’d hit Argosy in East Atlanta Village, wood-fired pizza, beer and perfect for unwinding and people watching. Or maybe a rooftop drink at New Realm Brewing to soak in Atlanta’s beautiful skyline. If we’re venturing outside the city, we would go to Savannah for a night at Alligator Soul, where we’d dig into French-Creole dishes in an underground Colonial cellar. This place feels like stepping into history with food that hits home. And when it’s time for cocktails, swinging by the Baobab Lounge for small plates and African-inspired drinks tucked away in a cool riverside spot is always magic.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Britt Samuels from Atlanta Georgia is an incredible leader and social entrepreneur who, as CEO and founder of the Maternal World Health Organization, partnered with CPRWrap to dramatically expand our impact. Her dedication to maternal and community health aligns perfectly with our mission, and without her collaboration and support, scaling our Heartbeat Heroes initiative nationwide wouldn’t be possible. Britt’s work goes beyond just organizational leadership, she embodies the spirit of connection, empowerment, and service that CPRWrap needed to move our social impact initiative forward. Recognizing her not only honors her commitment but also highlights the critical partnerships that make social impact possible. So yes, Britt Samuels absolutely deserves a heartfelt shoutout in my story.
