Meet Fabiola Flores: Lifestyle Portrait Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Fabiola Flores and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Fabiola, how do you think about risk?
“Risk” is a word that I think we can all agree we are hearing more and more lately with the come up of so many small businesses. For most of my life, I felt like I always played it safe because there was a guaranteed outcome at the end of it. The “if you do this, like this, this will happen” kind of mentality. Little by little I have learned (and I am still learning) that risk is okay! If you take a risk and win, great. Do it again. If you take a risk and lose, also great. You learn from it and move on! Once I realized that taking risks are opportunities to grow and learn, that opened doors for me. When I got my camera I had no intention of starting a business. One day an old friend said “hey can you take my maternity pictures?” and I hesitated to reply. I had zero experience in doing a shoot and I was still learning what the heck shutter speed, ISO, and aperture were. But she insisted, and I went for it. I thought I would just do these pictures and that would be the end of it, and now here I am with a whole small business! Take the risk. Just go for it. Losing and failing is a part of life, but what you learn from it is valuable.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am the owner and photographer of Fab Photography. I believe what sets me apart from others is showing my personality early on in the process of booking me. I want my clients to feel comfortable around me, and I truly believe that it’s important to start building that trust and connection way before a shoot. I love to build relationships with my clients, and at the end of it all I want them to consider me as a friend.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely take them to an Atlanta United game! I’ve been to several and the atmosphere is incredible. After, Id take them to Waffle House for some late night food. On another day, we grab some Chick-Fil-A and enjoy the weather at Piedmont Park. We could also grab a bite at Duluth Town Green one evening and take pictures around the cute little area. As you can tell, food is important to me! We could drive down Buford Hwy and find somewhere to eat, so many yummy places to choose from!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to all my clients. Every single one of you. Thank you for trusting me and letting me capture the moments in your life. Thank you for your friendship.
