We had the good fortune of connecting with Eryk Leone and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Eryk, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk taking for me has built so much character and gave me experience on my journey to creative fulfillment. Being a creative has never been as easy as it may look to others, there are so many let downs, mistakes and inevitable lessons along the way. Practicing risk taking is a desire that has steered me right into the rooms that helped open other doors and provided me bigger opportunities. Risk taking is almost similar to the “closed mouths don’t get fed” theory; If you never take those risks based on fear of failing how would you ever know what type of gratitude is waiting for you on the other side?
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The most special and unique thing about my artistry is that I’ve been committed to the art since I was about 3 years old honestly. My mother said that when I was a baby that Elton John or Earth, Wind & Fire had the power to make me stop crying. From here my passion was born and the older I got the more I wanted to experiment; I figured out how to record myself over cassette tapes so I would make beats on my keyboard and rap to them. Music became something I was just used to doing, my first time recording in an actual studio I was only twelve. As my journey continued, I started to create projects and finally felt like it was time to share with the world thus the birth of my career. Timeline wise I can’t remember I single year I wasn’t recording or writing music. One important thing I want readers to understand about me is that I have mastered the art of giving people quality and that if you give my art a chance I promise you won’t be disappointed. I am a wordsmith, poet, speech therapist, elite lyricist and top tier rhymer. Another valuable attribute is that I’m extremely careful on the frequencies I pump into others, when I create I make sure that it is not only relatable and enjoyable but that I speak from the heart, opperate from the vessel of truth and drop gems of game to help people get through the negatives and hardships of life. My music is so fun, colorful and rich in value with wisdom.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Atlanta is a artful and awe inspiring city when it comes to people, places and things. To a friend visiting the city, first you have to get some wings because it’s atl tradition and no where else in the world makes them like this. My favorite wing spot is Wing Bar but you can get some anywhere mom & pop style really and they’ll be fye. Honey hot or hot lemon pepper is what I be on; my friends and I also love to go to Mama’s Cocina Latina after events because their tacos are undefeated plus they 24 hrs. Little 5 Points is always cool spot for shopping for unique threads and meeting other creatives/like minded people. For those who don’t mind the hood, the West End has one of my favorite holistic shops, Sanctuary. Also East Point has a special place in my heart. There’s so much to get into here in Atlanta come see for yourself.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to first thank the most high for blessing me with the gift of creativity along with the knowledge and skill set I’ve cultivated during my process. Special thanks to my brother nyck because without him I’d be missing out on the best quality on all my projects and it is with extended gratitude to say that he’s the greatest engineer/producer breathing. Special shout-out to all of Goat House and everyone affiliated with us, my family, friends and all of my aupporters. I truly thank you all, even if you’re reading this.
