Meet Erin Cawthon | Personal Stylist & Registered Nurse

We had the good fortune of connecting with Erin Cawthon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erin, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I’ve always been a creative individual and fashion has been a passion of mine since I was young. Styling clients fosters a unique channel for my creativity and personal expression that allows me to thrive as a human being. I have always set aside time and made styling one of my main priorities because it is something that makes me genuinely happy even while maintaining the balance of being a wife and a full-time registered nurse.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

Having a full-time job as a registered nurse and working hard at building my budding career as a personal stylist can provide its challenges but reinforces my commitment and drive to my clients while also keeping my time management skills sharp. Every new client provides an exciting and challenging new set of circumstances, and while I would still consider my personal brand to be more boutique, I pride myself most on the litany of repeat clients that I feel highlight my skill set as a stylist. I owe all of my growth to the clients whom I have built a strong trust and relationship with over the years. The projects aren’t always easy, however, they consistently offer a complex set of new goals that push and challenge me to go outside my own boundaries as a creative making me stronger and more unique.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

A perfect Atlanta itinerary would consist of eating at some of the best restaurants in the south east, sipping craft cocktails, thrifting, and attending seasonal festivals Atlanta is notorious for hosting.

Atlanta is known for its impeccable food scene so hitting up two of my favorite restaurants is a must. First up being Amore e Amore which can easily be summarized into two words: Italian Studio 54. Amore e Amore offers amazing Italian food with to-die-for espresso martinis topped with the best disco music and interior décor to match. Perfect for a girls weekend or bachelorette party!  Second would definitely be The Consulate. Their aesthetic emulates my personal style – swanky, timeless, and eclectic. With a continuously rotating menu of international small plates, their selection of cuisines and craft cocktails never disappoint.

If you know thrifting then you know Atlanta is a haven for the antiquing aficionado like myself. With an endless selection of estate sales, thrift stores, and antique markets like Scotts, one’s dreams of turning their home into a museum of one of a kind vintage items will finally turn into reality.

A perfect Atlanta trip isn’t complete without attending one of its fall and spring festivals where vendors from all over gather to offer their unique goods, live music, and some of the best food trucks in the metro area.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

This shout out would have to go to a dear family friend – Marcia Burkart. My earliest memories consist of me flipping through magazines drooling over fashion houses like Versace, Dior, and Chanel. How runway looks—these literal walking pieces of art—could overtly and subliminally influence every aspect our lives. I would fantasize my own creations and spend hours sketching them or even recreating them myself. Marcia would bring over her old Vogue magazines and we would fall down this rabbit hole together indulging in every trend and iconic statements from years gone by.

I of course couldn’t have made this dream of mine into a reality without the love and support from my husband, Eli. From day one he has never doubted my abilities. Starting freelance personal styling one month before the pandemic made things challenging and at times when I felt the most discouraged his reassurance and confidence in me remained steadfast.
