We had the good fortune of connecting with Erin Blake and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erin, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I don’t like to call it risk because it leaves a negative connotation within the mind. Rather, I love to say taking a leap of faith knowing that all things will happen for my greater good and that God will always provide for me through all the good and challenging times. I decided to bet on myself and took a Leap of Faith in September of 2021 when God was giving me signs to better myself and my environment. This came to me all of a sudden because I wanted to quit my job at the end of the school year so that I can save up enough funds to hold me and my family down since I am a single mother, but God said NOW! So I had to act, I quit my job and sold my house to fully focus on my business and from then on everything opened for me. I gained more clients, money has came to me more than I could imagine, I was accepted into a business cohort, and the journey continues.
What should our readers know about your business?
My business is unique because I am a young African American woman who is changing the outlook and mindset on transforming children with special needs, disabilities, and who are recovering from injuries in order to provide strategies to function to their highest potential within their everyday environment. I have various trainings that I work with children on a wholistic level and I have a great rapport with children and their families. Some of the services I provide are kid’s yoga, handwriting, fine motor development, feeding therapy, kinesio-taping, sensory-integration, and community involvement/collaboration. I have initiated a community engagement series called Commmunity Collabs where children and children with special needs are able to experience various activities and gain knowledge about yoga, arts, gardening, farming, and other activities. I am most proud about impacting children and their families knowing that I am helping children reach their goals therapeutically and functionally. I am here today working for myself by gaining knowledge while matriculating through The Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, obtaining my Bachelors in Health Science and Master’s of Occupational Therapy, having courage and believing in myself, and having experience working from clinics to the school board (Broward County School District and Atlanta Public Schools). I would say the process of entrepreneurship is going to be challenging and you are a daily learner, but there is beauty in it all! Always believe in yourself and your vision and trust the process! My brand and story will be a legacy that will be passed down from generation to generation. I am on a mission to pass down generational health, wealth, peace, and happiness!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love the whole vibe of Ponce City Market, Little Five Points, Atlanta Beltline, Atlantic Station, yoga spots, spas, sporting events, museums, SixFlags/White Waters, historic district of MLK, various lounges and bars around the city! It’s always something to do in Atlanta and there are plenty of events that are happening! I love to try different brunch spots, lounges, and restaurants throughout the city!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout God, my angels, my ancestors, and my spirit guides for always giving me guidance and clarity on this life journey! They have been a vital part of my life ensuring my trust and faith in them have brought me to some amazing places and have opened up doors that I only imagined. I also would like to thank me for acting on their guidance and trusting the signs! My family (parents, children, aunts, uncles, and cousins) is my biggest support system right now, they have provided and supported me through it all!
