We had the good fortune of connecting with Ericka Blount and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ericka, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind the success of Blount Wine Therapy is the ability to combine two powerful elements: exceptional wine and the vital conversation surrounding mental health. At Blount Wine Therapy, each bottle represents a personal story—a moment, place, or person from my own journey through mental health. This deeply personal connection to every bottle allows me to use the wine label as a space for storytelling, where I can share the adversities I’ve faced and how they’ve shaped my path.

Our brand’s success has been propelled by the unique way we intertwine wine with professional development, particularly through wine tastings for Fortune 500 companies. These events create an atmosphere of relaxation and openness, giving people the freedom to discuss uncomfortable topics, particularly mental health, in a safe and engaging environment. The blend of quality wine and meaningful conversation has resonated with corporate clients and individuals alike, allowing us to break down barriers and foster authentic dialogue about mental well-being in a professional setting.

Ultimately, Blount Wine Therapy thrives because we offer more than just a product—we offer a space for reflection, connection, and growth. The success of the brand lies in the power of this story, the strength of vulnerability, and the ability to create meaningful experiences for those who engage with our wine.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What Sets Me Apart:

What sets Blount Wine Therapy apart is the fusion of two powerful elements: exceptional wine and the importance of mental health awareness. My brand is not just about creating a product—it’s about creating a space for healing, conversation, and connection. Each bottle of wine tells a story, a reflection of my personal journey with mental health. This connection to my own experiences is what makes Blount Wine Therapy unique and allows it to resonate with others in a deeply personal way. The ability to combine wine with meaningful dialogue about mental well-being has opened doors to impactful conversations and transformed how people view mental health in both personal and professional settings.

How I Got Here:

Getting to where I am today was not easy. Building a brand that intertwines personal vulnerability with a business model required immense courage and perseverance. It took a lot of hard work, countless setbacks, and a few tough lessons. But through it all, I was motivated by the desire to break the stigma surrounding mental health, especially in environments like corporate settings where these conversations are often avoided.

I didn’t get here alone—along the way, I received unwavering support from my parents, Clinton and Ruby Blount, my son, Clinton Harmon and my team. Their belief in me, even when I doubted myself, has been a constant source of inspiration. I also learned how important it is to trust your instincts and stay true to your values, especially when the road gets tough.

Overcoming Challenges:

The challenges I’ve faced have been both internal and external. As a single parent, I was faced with the balancing act of raising a child while building a business. There were days when I wondered if I could do both, but I quickly realized that the strength I needed to succeed was already within me. It was about learning to manage my time, setting clear boundaries, and finding strength in my faith and purpose.

On the professional side, there were many obstacles, from the skepticism of others to the complexity of launching a new product in an industry that’s both competitive and heavily regulated. But I pushed through by focusing on my “why”—the vision of creating a brand that could normalize conversations around mental health and provide people with a sense of comfort and release through wine.

Lessons Learned:

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned along the way is the power of resilience. You will face setbacks, rejection, and moments of doubt, but the key is to keep going. The ability to bounce back from adversity and stay committed to your mission is crucial. I’ve also learned the importance of authenticity—people resonate with stories that are real, raw, and transparent. This is what has allowed my brand to form deep connections with others.

Another significant lesson is the power of partnerships. My parents taught me that collaboration and mutual support are vital to any success. Whether it’s family, business partners, or clients, the value of building strong, trusting relationships cannot be overstated.

What I Want the World to Know:

What I want the world to know about Blount Wine Therapy is that it’s more than just a wine label—it’s a movement. It’s a space where people can come together to share their stories, find comfort in one another, and embrace their mental health journeys without shame or judgment. My brand represents the intersection of self-care and professional growth, where people can relax, open up, and learn more about themselves in the process.

Ultimately, Blount Wine Therapy is about creating a safe space to have the conversations that matter. It’s about honoring the importance of mental health while enjoying the simple pleasures of life. Through the wine, the story, and the experiences we create together, my hope is that we can inspire others to face adversity with courage, compassion, and a little bit of wine.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting Atlanta for a week, I would make sure they experienced a perfect blend of culture, relaxation, and fun. Atlanta is a city full of energy, history, and vibrant people, so here’s a little itinerary I’d put together to make sure they had the best time ever:

Day 1: Relax and Explore Downtown
Morning: Start the day with a delicious breakfast at Toast. This cozy spot has fantastic breakfast options, from fresh mimosas to hearty pancakes, making it the perfect fuel for the day ahead.
Late Morning/Afternoon: After breakfast, head over to The High Museum of Art. This world-class museum is not only architecturally stunning but offers an eclectic collection of both contemporary and classic art. It’s a great place to immerse in culture and maybe spark some thought-provoking conversations.
Evening: For dinner, I’d recommend STK Atlanta. It’s an upscale steakhouse known for its chic, modern ambiance and delicious steaks. Whether you’re a steak connoisseur or just in the mood for a great meal, STK offers a memorable experience. Plus, the cocktails are amazing!
Day 2: Brewery Hopping and Historical Sights
Morning: We’d grab a quick bite at a local café (maybe The Flying Biscuit Café for some southern comfort breakfast) before heading out for the day.
Afternoon: I’d take them to Scofflaw Brewing Co. in West Midtown. Known for its rich beers and laid-back vibe, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy a drink and unwind. I’d recommend the Pineapple Express IPA if you like something fruity and bold. Scofflaw also has an inviting outdoor patio, perfect for a chill afternoon.
Evening: We’d wrap up the day by heading to The Fox Theatre for a live show. Whether it’s a Broadway play, a concert, or a comedy show, the Fox is an iconic venue that makes for a magical evening out. The theater itself is breathtakingly beautiful, with its grand architecture and rich history.
Day 3: Outdoor Fun and Trendy Spots
Morning: Start with a visit to Piedmont Park for a little outdoor time. We could grab coffee at a local café and take a stroll through the park, soaking in the gorgeous city views and maybe even rent bikes to cruise around.
Afternoon: From the park, we could head over to BeltLine Eastside Trail for some exploration. This vibrant spot is home to plenty of murals, food trucks, and local shops. It’s one of my favorite places to walk around and get a taste of Atlanta’s unique street art scene.
Dinner: After all that walking, we’d head to Ponce City Market for some eclectic dining options. There’s something for everyone here—from artisan pizza to Southern comfort food—and you can even enjoy rooftop views of the city while sipping a cocktail.
Day 4: Southern Charm & Hidden Gems
Morning: A visit to The Atlanta Botanical Garden would be a peaceful way to start the day. With its lush gardens, butterfly exhibit, and stunning landscapes, it’s a hidden gem in the city that feels like an escape from the urban hustle and bustle.
Afternoon: Lunch would be at Mary Mac’s Tea Room, a legendary spot for classic Southern comfort food. The fried chicken, cornbread, and collard greens are a must-try!
Evening: I’d take them to Krog Street Market, a trendy spot for dining and shopping. It’s a bit more low-key than Ponce City, but offers a great selection of unique vendors, plus some really cool bars. We’d end the night with drinks at one of the local speakeasies or rooftop bars nearby.
Day 5: Adventures and Thrills
Morning: We’d get a little adventurous and head to Skyline Park on top of Ponce City Market. There are tons of fun activities like mini-golf, an old-school slide, and carnival games with spectacular views of the city.
Afternoon: After some fun, I’d take them over to The World of Coca-Cola for a deep dive into one of Atlanta’s most iconic brands. The museum is interactive and playful, with plenty of opportunities to sample different Coca-Cola beverages from around the world.
Evening: We’d finish the day with dinner at Bone’s in Buckhead, one of the best steakhouses in the city. It’s a classic spot where you can enjoy top-tier steaks and a superb wine list in a sophisticated, intimate setting.
Day 6: Local Neighborhoods and Downtown Delights
Morning: We’d kick off the day by checking out the vibrant neighborhood of Little Five Points. This eclectic area is full of vintage shops, funky boutiques, street art, and some of the most unique coffee shops in the city.
Afternoon: I’d recommend lunch at The Vortex, a local favorite known for its massive burgers and fun, lively atmosphere.
Evening: For something more relaxing, we could take a sunset walk through the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, and after, grab dinner at The Iberian Pig in Decatur for a delicious tapas experience.
Day 7: Cultural Immersion & Farewell
Morning: No visit to Atlanta is complete without visiting the National Center for Civil and Human Rights. This deeply moving museum is both informative and thought-provoking, offering a poignant history of the civil rights movement and the ongoing fight for justice.
Afternoon: We’d head to Grant Park for a relaxing afternoon in the beautiful park or visit the Atlanta Zoo, one of the oldest zoos in the country, for a bit of fun.
Dinner: To close out the trip, we’d enjoy a final meal at Kevin Rathbun Steak in Inman Park. Known for its expertly prepared cuts of meat and a stellar cocktail program, it’s the perfect place for a celebratory dinner before heading out of the city.
Other Fun Things:
Nightlife: If we’re feeling adventurous at night, we’d check out the lively nightlife scene at places like Empire State South or Eclipse di Luna, known for great cocktails and an awesome atmosphere.
Shopping: If they’re into shopping, I’d take them to Lenox Mall or Atlantic Station for a mix of high-end and unique stores.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
While my personal journey and the success of Blount Wine Therapy are driven by my own experiences, I would be remiss not to recognize the key individuals who have played a pivotal role in shaping me, both personally and professionally.

First and foremost, I owe a deep debt of gratitude to my parents, Clinton and Ruby Blount. Their unwavering support, sacrifices, and enduring partnership have been instrumental in my success. Married for 56 years and owners of a successful nonprofit for over 45 years, my parents exemplify the values of resilience, entrepreneurship, and commitment. Their ability to provide me and my three sisters with exposure to new opportunities and a foundation of unlimited support has been nothing short of a game-changer. They have shown me that the strength of a family partnership is the cornerstone of success, and their legacy has inspired much of my own journey.

Additionally, I want to extend special recognition to my son, Clinton Harmon. As a single parent, raising him taught me the true meaning of agape love—the selfless, unconditional love that pushes one to grow, learn, and thrive despite challenges. My son has been my greatest teacher, and his presence in my life has made me stronger, more resilient, and more determined. His love and encouragement have shaped me into the god-fearing, fearless businesswoman I am today.

The support and love from my parents and my son have been foundational to my path and have given me the strength to pursue my dreams and bring Blount Wine Therapy to life. They are, without a doubt, the true pillars of my success.
