We had the good fortune of connecting with Erica “Erica B” Bryant and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erica “Erica B”, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
Making the decision to allow my gift to make room for me because I fully committed to the mission God gave me for the purpose of this gift. No compromising. Changed my standards to not paint for cash and paint with a cause!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a professional Airbrush Artist. My trade is a skill that is not seen as often as it has been in past years, but there are still thousands of Artists both nationally and internationatly who have embraced this form of Art and made it a career for themselves as I have. I create and design art on various products and surfaces such as T-Shirts, Jeans, Shoes, Hats, Wall Murals, Vehicles, License Plates, Helmets and I have even airbrushed designs on prostethic limbs for amputees.

I am excited about the opportunities that continue to come my way. Never in my wildest dreams I thought I would accomplish the things I have been blessed to do with this one tool called “The Airbrush”.

This path has definitely had it’s share of ups and downs. I have lost and I have gained, but monetarily as well as partnerships, but it’s all a part of the process. I prayed a lot..a whole lot..through the heartaches and disappointments I have experienced . The good days out weigh the bad for sure. Being the only standing Female Airbrush Artist in my city of 30 years is a testiment to how committed I am to what I do as much as committed as the people who continue to support what I do in the form of patronage.

I want the world to know that I am God made..Not Self Made. The work that I do and the lives that have been touched through this gift of artistry is all contributed to the Lord. I’m self taught with no college education for my field so, why would I not thank God for this.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are a lot of cool wall murals that have been painted by other artists in our city. We would take pictures in front of some of them for memorabilia. We would go to Regions Field to a Baron’s Baseball Game. People tend to think Baseball is boring until you actually go to a physical stadium and experience the fan fair. It’s pretty cool.

Recreational… Let’s Go Bowling! Lightning Strikes in Trussville, AL has the lanes and also the video games. Revisting your childhood and just having fun never grows old.

I am always down for a good movie. Lux “Premiere” to check out a movie in the big recliner chairs and popcorn there. My BF and I aren’t drinkers, but good food is always on the menu. Hibachi it is. I was just introduced to “Big Spoon Creamery Ice Cream Polar in Avondale, AL. That would be a dessert stop after lunch or dinner.

Sunday a visit to my local church home. Birmingham is in the south and we love soul food, but we also love a good word for your soul.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Grateful to say that God is the navigator of my success. Great Family support from my parents Arnold & Cynthia Bryant and my only brother Matthew, Sr., Matthew Jr & Makenleigh. My entire family on both of my parent’s side of the family are so supportive too many of us to name one by one. My Pastors Doug & Shay Taylor and my church family at Rebirth Christian Fellowship, My Business & Art Mentor Malcolm “Airbrush Assassin” McCrae.
