We had the good fortune of connecting with Enrique & Joslyn Dent and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Enrique & Joslyn, what do you attribute your success to?
The reason for our business success is our very large “WHY?”. It is very empowering to create something that impacts you mentally, emotionally, and financially; as well as giving you the freedom of just being with your family knowing that you have a legacy that you’ve created to pass down to create generational wealth.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Dent Tires, LLC is an Atlanta-based tire company, family-owned and operated, that caters to the wholesale tire market while keeping a finger on the pulse of the retail market. We sell brand new commercial truck tires, car tires, trailer tires, and truck/SUV tires. Any brand of tire, you name it, we sell it or we can find it using our wide network of distributors. “Tires are what we do!”. More than selling tires, we provide knowledge of your tires (i.e., wear and tear, tread life, drivability, handling, etc.). We also provide our customers with our guaranteed promise of friendly, professional service and safety knowing that they made a great investment in our product offerings.
With Enrique’s vast knowledge of the tire industry; having worked 20 years at multiple retail/wholesale locations he has accumulated a wealth of sales, automotive and trucking knowledge. Enrique is also a certified Tire Expert by Goodyear and a top-rated Salesman. Joslyn has acquired several educational degrees in Finance, Risk Management/Insurance and Lean Six Sigma methodologies. She also has accumulated 20+ years of knowledge in the retail branch banking, operational banking, managing high net worth clients’ portfolios (both institutional and individuals); along with a vast knowledge of customer service and how to manage relationships. The road to success for us collectively was extremely challenging and mentally draining. We were both rejected on several occasions to advance our careers with our former employers. We turned those rejections into opportunities and we never wavered. Through perseverance, determination, team work and a willingness to succeed we pushed through to create a new family legacy; which was our ultimate goal. We wanted to become independent to take total control of our income stream and thereby creating a family legacy.
Throughout our journey to full-time entrepreneurship, we learned to create and trust “our” process and to not lean on others experiences for our individual business model. We also learned to do an extensive amount of research before accepting offers; be it money, resources, tools, you name it, we decided to trust our own process.
We want people to know that creating your brand/story isn’t as difficult as you may think it is. You must first determine a need. What do people need? How can I bring value to that need? How can I maintain that value to that need? What are the resources and tools needed to accomplish these goals? At Dent Tires, we focus on our customer’s needs and the total customer experience from start to finish. We want to know how can we be of service to you. What do you need to help keep you and your family safe on the roadways. Community, education, safety, and family are all woven into the fabric of why we created Dent Tires, LLC.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Our city is packed with lots of fun, exciting, touristic places to visit. Since our range is wide on what we enjoy doing, we’ll start with an afternoon arrival. First, check-in to a Hilton hotel of their choice. Freshen up to go enjoy a nice lunch at JCT Kitchen located in the Howell Mill “Cattle” district. After lunch, we’ll go for a little stroll through the “Cattle” District. A little background history on the Cattle District includes livestock, cattle being housed in this district. Over the years, the cattle district has been revived and is very popular and modern. Our special week will also include trips to the Georgia Aquarium, Fernbank Museum, Centennial Olympic Park, Grant Park, Zoo Atlanta, Sweet Georgia’s Juke Joint for some great live jazz, good eats and lively libations. More great restaurants for breakfast, lunch & dinner would include, Another Broken Egg Cafe, West Egg Cafe or First Watch, Slutty Vegan, Nancy’s Pizza in the heart of Midtown for lunch. Dinner dates would be at La Parrilla, Sunflower Cafe, Lure. Fun spots include: Top Golf, Main Event, Pin & Proper, and Pin Strikes. And if our friend is feeling up to it, we would take a quick turnaround road trip to Savannah. Stroll down River Street, grab a few a good plates of seafood and stop by Wet Willie’s for a hurricane and then stroll through the Squares of Savannah’s Historic Downtown District.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We are both self-taught, self-motivated and visionaries with a desire to learn, succeed and grow. There were educational institutions that were instrumental in cultivating our initial knowledge base; Georgia State University (J. Mack Robinson College of Business), Riverwood Associates (Lean Six Sigma certifications), Atlanta Area Technical College and South University. These institutions ignited a fire within us to seek out additional skills and resources. As our journey begin to entrepreneurship, there were several notable individuals, who aided and guided our thought process along the way.
