We had the good fortune of connecting with Enovia Bedford and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Enovia, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
VettDeck assists event organizers and small businesses in understanding the benefits of sponsorship and partnerships, how to grow their relationships and presence, and using sponsorship as an additional stream of revenue. One thing about the sponsorship industry outsiders are unaware of is sponsorship isn’t just for celebrities, athletes, or influencers. We have so many clients that are hesitant about pitching or starting the process because they don’t think they’re big enough, have the following or don’t think they have anything to offer to brands. We’ve helped events with as little as 12 people in attendance (and nope the 12 people weren’t celebrities) and small followings secure sponsorship. Anyone with a solid data-driven plan, understanding that they have to put in the work that the deal requires can secure sponsorship from top brands.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
VettDeck was built as a conduit to better sponsorship decks and deals. As a marketer. I was tired of seeing lackluster decks and wondered why there wasn’t a system that reviews them for me. As an event organizer finding the right contact or department can be taxing. I wanted to create something that simplified the process of all parties. I started procuring sponsorships for celebrities and worked on large deals, I was burnt out. My company was an agency style and I had upwards of 12 clients with a 2 person team. Scaling and bringing my product to the masses becomes a priority, I pivoted and VettDeck became a tech platform. It wasn’t easy at all. There’s no blue print for black woman lead tech founders to build something like this. I do have a great group of founders that I can bounce ideas, problems, and get through the struggles with. I want the world to know that we do the work we know how to do. We give business owners the tools to look at their business differently and how they work with large corporations. We increase bottom lines and change business trajectories.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m based in Charlotte and back and forth to Atlanta and there are things that I have to do when I visit. I love the Botanical Gardens, it’s freeing to be around so much beauty. Working out on the Beltline, it’s a great place for a walk, I’m into outdoor sports. Spa time, Jeju Atlanta is the real reason for my visits. I got hooked on Korean spas about 15 years ago on a trip to LA. It’s been part of my life since then, there aren’t any places in Charlotte so I travel to Atlanta to get my body scrubbed! Hangout, there’s always something happening at The Gathering Spot (pre-COVID) and probably dinner at Sweet Auburn. During COVID I’ve spent a lot of time visiting friends eating well and making memories.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First my Director of Operations Shasha Taylor. She’s been with me from the start with an all hands on deck approach. She’s more than my right hand, she’s my left as well. I have a great group of friends who are inspirational, have become clients, or either was clients turned friends. They keep me on the top of my game and I enjoy working with them. My super-smart sister has a Ph.D. and conducts research for top technology companies, She helped me create the survey for the next rollout of VettDeck and I’m very grateful for her. My attorney Bobby Robinson and my mom who’s an attorney that created my Terms and Conditions both did a phenomenal job. My former mentor Sidra Smith who taught me so much about sponsorship and business in general working for her production company years ago pushed me to get to where I am today. There are so many others!
