We had the good fortune of connecting with Emma Greene and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Emma, what role has risk played in your life or career?
A risk to me is doing something and not knowing the outcome, but believing in yourself that you can do it, when others might not. Being a full time photographer in itself is a big risk; you are not guaranteed clients, benefits, insurance, or money. When I decided to give it a try and go full time, I was definitely very scared. But I also believed in myself that I can do anything I put my mind to. Shortly after I became a full time photographer, my creative brain got to turning. I decided to take another very big risk; which is a photo-booth camper. This was the biggest project and investment I have ever done especially only being 21 years old. I actually just finished it and I’m excited to see where it goes. It is now available for booking and I am so excited to be expanding my photography business.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a photographer. I specialize in weddings, senior portraits, family portraits, and events. I am most proud of the fact that I’m 21 years old running my own business and following my dreams. I’m proud of myself for not settling for a job I was not happy with and taking the risk to go full-time with my business. I believe what sets me apart from other photographers is my relationship with my clients. I truly try to get to know each of my clients and a lot of them I have became friends with. I work towards giving my clients an experience rather than just a service. Another thing that sets me apart from other photographers is my camper photo-booth. This is something I’m extremely proud of. We took an old, dumpy camper and turned it into a luxury BoHo themed camper. This would be great for weddings, and other events like birthdays, festivals, etc.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am from a very small town called Shelby, NC. If I had a friend visiting, I would take them to Lafayette St. Grill & Pub or Pleasant City to grab a bite to eat. Then I would take them over to Moss Lake and go Kayaking. To finish the day I would take them about 45 mins down the road to Charlotte, NC. Here I would drive to the airport to watch the planes take off into the sunset, while having a picnic.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to give a big shoutout to my boyfriend, Lane. He has supported me since day one, built me props for photoshoots and helped me do everything on the camper, which wasn’t any small task. He spent countless weekends and weekdays after work helping me get it finish. He always pushes me to better myself and my business and I wouldn’t be where I am without him. And lastly, I want to recognize a person who supports me, shows up for me, and is always there; Alexis Mikell. If I need help at a wedding, she is there. If I have a shoot across the country, she is booking a plane ticket to go with me. I truly have the best support system there is and I’m so thankful.
