We had the good fortune of connecting with Emma Bayer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emma, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success has been taking risks and putting myself out there. When I was younger I was quite shy and liked to take the safe option out of things, but I have learned over time that it is important to take risks, and even though it may be uncomfortable in the moment, the reward will be something much bigger and open a lot more doors in the long run.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
MZ & Emmers was formed through a friendship between Women’s Professional Soccer star McCall Zerboni (MZ), and me, Emma Bayer (Emmers), with help from my parents. We are dedicated to raising awareness and funds in the fight against breast cancer, through the empowerment of women’s athletics.
In October 2010, we participated in a local breast cancer festival with friends from the Atlanta Beat. We raffled a couple of autographed items and raised $300.
In July 2011, we held a week-long eBay auction of sports bras, autographed by women’s professional soccer players from around the world. All 84 items that we collected were sold. A total of $4400 was raised.
We initially expanded to include women from all over the sports world and eventually musicians, artists, actors, entertainers, and others! Over time, we transitioned MZ & Emmers to Em-Powerment Breast Cancer Charity & Good Deeds. We continue to do most of our work hosting auctions on eBay and donating the funds to Keep-A-Breast in order to reach younger women. To date, we have auctioned over 1,000 items and raised over $64,000. We do additional community service work with local animal shelters as well as communities in need. My main role as co-founder is to be the spokeswoman and decide on our areas of service. You can see some of my videos on our Facebook page — https://www.facebook.com/MZEmmers Instagram — @mzemmers

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I were to take a friend on a weeklong trip, we would visit places such as the Marietta Square which has lots of great places to eat such as Taqueria Tsunami and Miss Mamie’s Cupcakes, and lots of different places to shop. We would visit the Botanical Gardens and take a trip down to the Battery to eat and tour the Braves stadium. We could also visit places such as the World of Coke, Zoo Atlanta, and the Georgia Aquarium, and of course our favorite breakfast spot, Reveille.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give credit to my parents, who have helped to carve out this path for me to be as successful as I can be and to provide me with plenty of opportunities to shine and grow both as a person and as a leader in my community, as well as the organizations that I am a part of. They believe in my future and success even when I may have doubts or worries, and encourage me to be the best me that I can possibly be.
