Meet Emily Nuckols | Creator of Emily Yellow

We had the good fortune of connecting with Emily Nuckols and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Emily, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The Possibility Bag Collection was born in 2014, inspired by Emily’s deep appreciation for traditional Native American “Possibles Bags.” Historically used to carry essential supplies, medicines, and objects of healing, these bags serve as a powerful symbol of resilience and potential. Emily reinterprets this tradition with a modern touch, infusing her designs with meaning and connection.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Emily’s creative journey began in Santa Barbara, California, where her love for the ocean deeply influenced her artistic spirit. The vastness of the sea and its ever-changing beauty became a source of inspiration, reminding her of the endless possibilities life holds. After relocating to Georgia, she refined her skills and expanded her creative vision, blending the laid-back elegance of California with the warm hospitality and charm of the South. This unique fusion is at the heart of her designs, reflecting her belief that style can be as functional as it is inspiring.
Craftsmanship and Sustainability
Every Possibility Bag is made with meticulous care using re-purposed textiles, leather hides, and industrial materials. Emily is committed to sustainability, ensuring her designs not only celebrate individuality but also respect the environment. Each bag is thoughtfully crafted, making no two bags alike—a reflection of the uniqueness of every person who carries them.
Much like the ocean she loves, Emily’s designs embody a sense of freedom and adaptability. The rugged textures and flowing lines of her bags reflect the natural elements that inspire her, creating pieces that are as timeless as they are practical.
A Community of Possibility
Emily’s mission goes beyond creating beautiful bags. She is passionate about building a community that uplifts and empowers. Through her designs, she seeks to honor and promote sustainability, and inspire others to embrace life’s possibilities.
Emily often collaborates with local artisans and creators, and she contributes to causes close to her heart. Her customers frequently share stories of how her designs have brought inspiration, connection, and confidence to their lives—testimonials that fuel Emily’s passion for her work.
Behind the Scenes
When Emily isn’t designing, you’ll often find her by the water, soaking in the serenity and power of the ocean. Whether walking along the shore, collecting driftwood, or sketching ideas with the sound of waves in the background, the ocean remains a constant source of renewal and creativity. Her workspace reflects her connection to the sea, with coastal colors, natural textures, and inspiration drawn from marine life.
Through her Possibility Bags, Emily Yellow invites you to embrace life’s journey with courage, creativity, and a touch of ocean-inspired magic. Each bag is a reminder that you are one of a kind, and the possibilities are as limitless as the sea.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A little two day adventure in Atlanta, Ga
Day 1: Morning: Start the day with breakfast at Flying Biscuit Café. The vibe is cozy, and their creamy grits and biscuits are legendary. Afterward, we’d hit up the Ponce City Market for a stroll. It’s full of cool shops, art installations, and good vibes. We can grab a quick coffee from Spiller Park Coffee.
Lunch: We’d have lunch at Jia at Ponce City Market—this place serves up amazing dishes.
Afternoon: Explore the Atlanta BeltLine by foot or rent bikes for the day. The BeltLine connects cool neighborhoods and has amazing street art, so we’d stop and take photos along the way. It’s also home to some fun galleries and cool murals.
Dinner: Head over to Barrelhouse for some fun, Southern-style comfort food (fried chicken, shrimp & grits) and craft cocktails. It’s a great vibe for hanging out and unwinding. After dinner, let’s go to The Roof at Ponce City Market to grab a drink and enjoy amazing views of the city skyline from the rooftop bar.
Day 2: Nature & Southern Hospitality
Morning: We’d get a scenic start at Piedmont Park. It’s perfect for a morning walk, with tons of green space and great views of the city skyline. Afterward, grab brunch at Sun in My Belly, known for its colorful and delicious brunch plates.
Lunch: Afterward, let’s head to The Varsity, Atlanta’s iconic fast food joint. This place is a true Atlanta institution—grab a chili dog, fries, and a milkshake and dive into the nostalgic vibes!
Afternoon: Spend a few hours exploring The Atlanta Botanical Garden. It’s one of the most beautiful spots in the city, filled with lush landscapes and serene walking paths. You can also check out the Canopy Walk, where we can stroll among the trees for some great views.
Dinner: We’d wrap up the evening with a special dinner at The Optimist, a trendy seafood spot with incredible oysters and an impressive cocktail list. It’s one of my favorite dinner experiences in Atlanta!
