Meet Emily Haydel | Host, Producer & English Instructor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Emily Haydel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Emily, what do you attribute your success to?
I think some of my success has come from being able to adapt quick enough to understand a new environment, group of people, or job that I must do. Although, I’ve been very lucky and thankful that most of the surroundings I’ve been in have been enjoyable! You can be so sure of yourself in one part of the world or an industry or job, and then when you have to make a change, involuntarily or purposeful, what you thought you knew about yourself and others before will almost always be completely uprooted. It can be humbling and challenging, but you’ll come out much better on the other side if you just try your best to role with the changes, emotions, and experiences.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m currently living in Seoul, South Korea working as an English instructor. I host and produce podcasts on the side, and I’m always open to new experiences. While attending the University of MIchigan, I used to think that I always wanted to be on camera, and that isn’t my full focus anymore. Although, I do really enjoy being on camera talking about things I’m passionate about and enjoy. People like Naz Perez, who I’m fortunate to work with, produces and hosts in a variety of ways, and how she lives her life is so inspiring to me!!! I love traveling and finding out about new cultures, ways of life, and fun experiences, so I hope that my work continues to be able to lead me in that direction.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d take them to Suntrust Park, of course when fans are allowed back in, and after a Braves game, I’d take them to the West End Brewery area to walk along and try a few different beers with friends. The next day, we’d go to Brake Pad, a solid lunch/dinner place in College Park. I’m not the best with knowing things about Atlanta spots, but I’d likely take them along the belt line in Midtown as well during the day and have a smoothie from Arden’s Garden. We could go lightly hike around Cobb Parkway’s trails.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Mary Beck from the MLB Network has helped me so much along the way ever since she was my boss as an intern in 2014. She’s one of the few relationships that I’ve kept up with as I started a “professional career,” and she’s always encouraged me in very honest ways. Nichelle Robinson has also been a woman who helped me so much with meeting new people and getting adjusted to my move in LA(she went to bat for me and still does *no pun intended*). Her classiness and dedication to holding herself and others around her to a high regard inspires me. Charlene Pae, though we’ve only known each other for almost a year and a half, she’s given me so much business and life advice, and for reasons I sometimes don’t understand, she’s supported and pushed for me to take charge and do things in so many different ways that I’m forever grateful for!!!! There are so many other women I can mention, but these three come to mind right now.
