We had the good fortune of connecting with Emily Griffith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emily, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Waggin’ Rights has always been founded with sustainability in mind. For our staff, we try to keep all employees within a few miles of their homes and encourage using hybrid or fully electric vehicles to reduce emissions. Chris, our main pet sitter and team lead with Waggin’ Rights, often drives a hybrid to clients. We further our environmentally-focused agenda by donating 1% profit to local sustainability groups and working closely with animal shelters and other rescues to find homes for every animal. Our CEO & founder, Emily, serves on the board of directors for Sustainable Newton. Newton County has become the epicenter of the green tech space and film industry, with Waggin’ Rights positioning itself to better serve those communities as they continue to expand and move to the area. Our doggy bags are cornstarch-based and therefore, biodegradable as well.

We provide direct pet support in the form of daily potty breaks, walks, and other specialty services, like animal management for weddings. On top of that, we are preparing to release our patented Barkuterie Boards featuring healthy dehydrated chews, fresh snacks, and pet-approved spreads. Our packaging will be either recycle-friendly or returnable for a discount on your next purchase. We are updating our products and will make everything available through our website, including the doggy bags we use. Keeping with our environmental mindset, we are completely paperless. Brittany is our systems and software expert, ensuring our clients have an exceptional, seamless, and user-friendly experience when working with Waggin’ Rights.

Although we are small in size, we plan to continue making our social impact even larger as we grow in the community. Waggin’ Rights is proud to promote diversity & inclusion as part of our philanthropy and will continue to provide equal opportunity employment as standard practice. We are accepting of all humans and creatures alike.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In addition to owning the business and serving on the board of directors for Sustainable Newton, Emily has also recently been accepted to Georgia State University to follow another passion, healthcare. She intends to enter the nursing program and continue impacting her community through equitable health initiatives.

Before enrollment at GSU, Emily received her Amazon Web Services Cloud Practitioner Certification after discovering a love for the tech space following a Women in Cybersecurity boot camp.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Covington boasts many local restaurants and Emily loves to support other businesses in the community. Some of her favorite spots include Social Goat, Amici, Mystic Grill, and Pinches Tacos Shack. Whenever she is near Decatur, she never misses the chance to dine at Masala Indian Cuisine.
