Meet Emily Condle and Shelby Gruber: Owner’s of Starry Nights Events

We had the good fortune of connecting with Emily Condle and Shelby Gruber and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Emily Condle and Shelby Gruber, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
We have been friends for over five years now. Throughout our friendship, we have always bounced business ideas off of each other as we both shared the desire to become our own bosses one day and would consider ourselves to have a “hustler” mentality. There were several other business ideas we had that we researched and discussed that just didn’t work out for one reason or another. Until one day Emily was inspired by the idea of creating magical and memorable moments for all of life’s events, not just for weddings. We loved the idea of working with all age ranges and being able to provide a variety of different types of events. We were very excited as this business allowed us to get started quickly while allowing us to still work our full time jobs.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We created Starry Nights out of our passion for beautiful, extravagant, and magical celebrations. We know how stressful it can be to plan, decorate, and host an event, so we started Starry Nights to give all people of all ages the opportunity to experience magical, one-of-a-kind events. We are Party Designers and Party Planners. We set ourselves apart by customizing every single event to bring the customer’s vision to life. We don’t only provide just a few options to pick from, we do a full consultation with our clients to hear exactly what they’re envisioning and then we bring that vision to life. We also differentiate ourselves by providing a variety of types of events to pick from whether it’s picnic parties, teepee sleepover parties, movie night parties, traditional dinner parties plus more! We also partner with amazing local vendors to take all of the stress of planning of our client’s plates. We are so proud of the fact that we started this business during the beginning of a global pandemic and that we have actually seen success. But outside of the success, what really makes us happy is the fact that we have been able to provide an option for people to still celebrate life’s special events but in a safe, intimate, and “covid friendly” way. We are looking forward to this upcoming Spring and Summer season. We have a really exciting local partnership coming together that will allow us to bring a new and really unique experience to a major local venue. Stay tuned!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
What we love about Atlanta is that there are so many different little areas to explore. If we had a friend coming in town to visit, some of our favorite restaurants are Umi, Rumi’s Kitchen, Two Urban Licks, and Hal’s. For drinks we love the Garden Room and Thirty Lounge. The belt line is always a must do along with Ponce City Market. We also love Downtown Roswell and Downtown Alpharetta.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Of course we would love to shout out all of our clientele over the past year that have made our business possible! We honestly did not expect for Starry Nights to take off as quickly as it has, especially through a global pandemic. We can not thank our clients enough for trusting us and for recommending us to their friends! We’d also like to shout out and thank both of our significant others and families. The event planning business definitely requires a lot of time and energy, early mornings and late nights. We definitely couldn’t do what we do without the help and support of you all, especially Rhett, he designs and creates a lot of our furniture and props and we are always so thankful for his help! In addition, we want to thank our amazing vendor partners. Our vendors help complete our events whether it’s through photography @sima_photography, with amazing cake designs @santiniminisweets, or beautiful balloons @lizziesballoons plus more. Our vendors make our job even more fun and we love partnering with other local small businesses.
