We had the good fortune of connecting with eloise skief and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi eloise, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
In life, sometimes you’re hit with so many different obstacles. Your childhood may not have been the best and you wanted to give up then. A relationship may have hit you extremely hard and almost destroyed you, but you never let anything that you’ve gone through stop you. I’m talking about myself in those statements. I didn’t think I was good enough, worthy enough or even capable of succeeding because things that I went through in life almost tore me down and I was letting it. Writing lyrics has always been my go-to because I could put all my feelings into my songs. I stopped for a while because I still felt like I just didn’t have what it took but I had to realize that God had given me a gift and he trusted me with that. Your gift might not be someone else’s and it’s not supposed to be because God blessed us all with what he wants us to have. We have to know and remember that we are worthy and capable of doing what God has chosen for us to do. Throw out the low self-esteem and know that we have a job to do for God and there is someone or many that need what we have to give. So, keep going because the race was never given to the swift but to those who finished. We will not know what God has ahead for us unless we keep going. So, shake the “I Can’t” and know that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. He never gave us the spirit of fear and we will not walk in fear. We are overcomers and we are fearless. I had to learn to hold my head high and keep going no matter how little the devil made me feel about myself at times. I am beautiful and wonderfully made. I will share my gift with all and under the anointing of Jesus. I love writing songs and would love to write for others.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I would say that I’m just a unique person. The melodies and lyrics just come to me for a song, or I can get a beat and just add lyrics. I even hear songs in my dreams that I have to wake up and sing into my phone so I won’t forget because when I actually awake, I can’t remember the song. I’ve had some great people like Milton Wallace, Doc Bradford and Kyle Collins along the way to help. No, it has not been easy, and I admit I sat back for about 2 years but it’s my time to shine and it’s my season. I learned you have to keep going no matter what and you have to believe in you. I love music, I love to sing, I love to write songs and I would love to work with other gospel artist. My nickname is Weezi and I just want to share my gift with the world.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in East Texas so I would say let’s take a ride to Dallas, Texas. I’m not saying that Tyler, Texas is boring, but Dallas has so much more to offer. My best friend would know that I am a huge football & basketball fan so we would have to catch a game that Sunday after an awesome time at my church “Now Faith Ministries”. I would hit Dallas up that Sunday evening with a football or basketball game. Next would be at Sweet Georgia Brown soul food restaurant. That Monday & Tuesday we would go to different outlets and shop a bit and enjoy food from Turkey Leg Paradise as well as some good BBQ. I can’t give you a day by day because I work so much but for my best friend we would do and go just wherever depending on how we feel each day.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to give a Shoutout to my family. They have been very supported especially my 3 children (Conley, Nena & Joshua). My love & my heart Pastor Marva Renee Hawkins (my other mother) passed away April 2023 and it devasted me, but she believed in me so much and always encouraged me to keep going. She might not be here, but I am still aiming to make her proud even in the heavens.
