We had the good fortune of connecting with Elizabeth Mcghee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elizabeth, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I started my business, it was sorta an accident. My brother was graduating from Highschool and my mom asked if I would use her camera and take some senior pictures for him. So I did, and then his friends parents started asking me, then those kids started getting married and sooner or later I had booked 20 weddings in one year!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have always valued Art. But creating my own art has granted me such great experience, Relationships, opportunities, and so much more. I have a love of straight lines, composition and sunsets! I personally think my best work is what I call Golden hour shots. Which is the last hour of daylight, it puts off this golden glow that is remarkable. I have done over 25 golden hour sessions this year alone, between weddings, family’s and couples. When I first took the leap into photography I really struggled getting my name out there, and getting clients. I offered free sessions, held model calls, and finally after 2 years of work I posted some Santa minis and sold out two days of minis in 4 hours. I booked 30 sessions between the two days! After that word of mouth helped me take off! I think one of the most rewarding things about my job is the relationships I get to make! Some of my clients have become my very best friends!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am a total extravert so I’m all about a good time! One of my favorite places to go is downtown to the Fox! I’m a huge theater person and love to make my friend and family go with me! So the fox is the top of my list! I’m also a huge music lover so concerts, dive bars, and speak easies are my scene! I love people! I am a huge advocate for kindness, and love of ALL people. But I definitely recommend a down town ATL photo shoot to have a great time!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely, I would not be where I am today without a few people! First my husband and parents, they have both supported me nonstop in my journey. Next my mentor, Ashlee Burgess, owner of Ashlee Burgess Photography. And finally my staff, Casey Jones my second/associate shooter, and Emily Dean my Non-Shooting assistant, they both work hard to help my vision come to life.
