Meet Elizabeth Hernandez | Actress, Writer, and Brand Specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Elizabeth Hernandez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Elizabeth, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
I have many affirmations and mantras I love and do my best to put them into practice. One of my favorite ones is “I can and I will”. I heard this by one of my favorite actress and loved it and related to it in a sense. I use this affirmation in various ways and one way this affirmation helps me is it reminds me that whatever I’m feeling or what ever the circumstance is, that I can and will make it through. That I can thrive and do and push thru it, giving my all, my best. It’s a way of reassuring myself and trusting myself- it’s also a way of manifestation for me when I’m working on something that means a lot to me. Also reminds me of times where I felt I down and stuck, but managed to get through it and say I can and I did!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Getting to where I am professionally hasn’t been easy. It’s been a struggle, but you know what, there’s beauty in the struggle and the process- what ever you want to be or do or have- you have to fall in love with it. Although there’s moments where you want to give up and you may feel a dark cloud following you everywhere, you have to push through and continue to have resiliency. Falling in love with the process, with whatever it may have been, has been a lesson in itself. One of my favorite ways to put it, is how Marianne Williamson says something along the lines, of how when the sky is dark, grey, and cloudy, you think there’s no sunshine or light, but the sky is always blue, the sun is always there. Don’t focus on the sky being grey or the clouds. It’s like an illusion. You have to shift your perception on things and view with a lens of hope rather than a filter of fear.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love traveling and finding new places to go to. Being in my own city in Atlanta, I have many places that I haven’t gone to, but I would probably find a great place to get food and drinks. Either in the city or if it’s warm weather probably a picnic at the park!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There’s many people who have helped me along the way that I’ll always be grateful for- definitely family and friends. Mentors, acting teachers I’ve had before, my therapists and counselors I’ve had over the years. But something that has helped me tremendously in life and navigating this complex human experience is books. I love reading. It’s something that I rediscovered my love for after graduating high school. I read The Slight Edge by Jeff Olsen, loved it and in that book is what made me turn into a book lover. Some of my favorite books are Big Magic, The Alchemist, and anything Brene Brown. Of course I have many more, but these books deserve some credit big time for stimulating my mind and stirring something in me that was a catalyst for change.
