We had the good fortune of connecting with Elizabeth Beck and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elizabeth, is there something you believe many others might not?
One piece of conventional advice that I disagree with is the notion that “you should always put others’ needs before your own.” While it’s important to be considerate and supportive of others, consistently neglecting your own needs can lead to burnout and resentment. As a mom of two young children, it’s easy to fall into the trap of constantly prioritizing my family’s needs over my own. However, I’ve learned that consistently neglecting my own well-being makes it harder to be the mom and wife I want to be.

Taking time for self-care—whether it’s going for a run, enjoying a quiet moment with a book, or simply getting enough rest—allows me to recharge and be more present and patient with my family. Prioritizing our physical, emotional, and mental health isn’t selfish, but essential. By taking care of myself, I’m better equipped to take care of the people I love, setting a positive example for my children and maintaining a healthier, happier household.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My work as a running coach and personal trainer is deeply rooted in my passion for running and helping others reach their goals. My personal journey—from struggling to run just a mile to completing everything from 5Ks to ultramarathons—sets me apart. This firsthand experience enables me to connect with my clients on a personal level and offer genuine, empathetic support.

I’m particularly proud of how I’ve merged my running experience with my certifications as a personal trainer and running coach. My holistic approach combines strength training, recovery, and proper running technique to help clients achieve their goals while minimizing the risk of injury.

Balancing training, coaching, and family life has been challenging but also incredibly rewarding. These challenges have taught me the value of perseverance, adaptability, and ongoing learning. I’ve found that setbacks are opportunities for growth and improvement.

At the end of the day, my work is built on a foundation of personal experience and a genuine desire to help others. My story reflects the power of resilience and the joy of running and movement. Whether you’re just starting out or are an experienced runner, I’m here to support you in reaching your goals and experiencing the same freedom and fulfillment that running has given me.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are plenty of great things to do in the Atlanta area! If my best friend were visiting, I’d plan a week filled with diverse activities. We’d start by biking along the BeltLine to take in the city. Then, we’d hike up Stone Mountain for some impressive views and exercise. For local craft beer, we’d check out New Realm Brewery and Three Taverns Brewery.

We’d also visit the Atlanta Botanical Garden and enjoy meals at Decatur Square’s 246 and The Iberian Pig. Running through the city’s beautiful parks would be on the agenda as well.

To cap off the trip, we’d head to North Georgia, climb Mount Yonah, and unwind at a nearby winery.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband Chris consistently encourages me to pursue ambitious goals. He also helps me juggle running, work, and family life, whether it’s managing the kids so I can get a run in or cheering me on. His support is genuinely invaluable.
