We had the good fortune of connecting with Elijah Greenwood and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elijah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have been in the technology industry for close to twelve years now and I am currently a Product Owner for a fortune 50 company managing multiple customer and enterprise facing mobile apps. I decided to start ATL Techies because my experience allowed me to understand that businesses need mobile apps in order to scale their companies. I started ATL Techies with the goal set to empower black businesses by providing mobile app development services at affordable prices.

I am excited to continue growing ATL Techies and have a lasting impact on the black community by contributing to the success of black businesses through providing affordable mobile apps.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My career path within the Technology industry has been great and I was able to excel at a fast pace in the project management field. I have obtained numerous awards in my role within managing apps including The Hermes Creative Platinum Award, Best New Mobile App Gold Award and The American Business Gold Award in the Education category.

I have faced some challenges on the leadership side that have been expected but also served as a motivational push to keep going. Over the last twelve years, I have been the only minority on project teams at times and I have seen an even stronger lack of minorities in leadership within technology. I have been able to succeed and continuously see growth in my career despite these odds. I made a commitment back in 2018 to create new avenues for others and provide better platforms for black businesses to excel through developing mobile apps.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love that Atlanta is considered the Mecca for black people and our businesses thrive in our city due to the support that we receive from our community. Our culture sets the tone throughout the country, and the love and support from people in Atlanta is unmatched. I personally think that one of the best things that we offer is our food and our southern hospitality. My favorite places to go in our city are Slim & Huskies, Kimball House, and Escobar. You’ll be sure to eat good and be treated even better.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family has set the tone for what true success looks like and I believe that they truly deserve recognition for most of my success today. The examples that were set before me are what I have modeled to have the necessary skills to start and run my own business.

Education, hard work, and discipline are the essence of what my family values and these principles have helped me everyday in making sure that my business is successful. I understand that it is my responsibility to take everything they have invested in me to continuing growing and give that back to others. That is what drives me to continue ATL Techies and provide affordable mobile apps to my clients to help grow their businesses as well.
